Shame in eating disorders can come up in a variety of ways:
- Binge eating and “hiding the evidence” (putting the wrappers at the bottom of the garbage can, eating in the car and discarding the wrappers)
- Shame to look in a full-length mirror, or be in photos with family and friends (without positioning your body behind someone else)
- Shame to share how bad it really is (“My husband knows I struggle with food, but he doesn’t know how bad it really is.”)
- Shame stepping on the scale at the doctor’s office
- Shame to eat something unhealthy in front of someone else (or binge eating in secret)
- Shame to invest in genuine help, because that means you really let it get “this bad”
In this episode we’ll cover how shame can keep you stuck, and also how to get UNSTUCK so you can end the binges with one less obstacle holding you back.
You can release the shame, accelerate your path to success, and finally feel proud of yourself … even if you’ve always been your own worst critic!
