Recently awarded the prestigious Ăquerre dâArgent, Le Penhuel & AssociĂ©s reflect on a practice shaped by diversity and a deep commitment to educational architecture.
Based in Paris since 1993, the office approaches each projectâhousing, mixed-use developments, rehabilitationâas an opportunity to rethink how architecture supports collective life. Yet schools hold a particular place in their work.
For them, a school is not a sequence of classrooms and corridors, but a living framework: interior streets, shared halls, courtyards, and generous circulation spaces become active parts of the learning experience. Light, natural materials, and environmental responsibility are embedded in the design from the outset.
Through projects such as the Simone Veil School Complex in Tremblay-en-France, the agency demonstrates how architecture can accompany evolving pedagogies without imposing them.
This episode explores how architecture can shape learning environmentsânot through spectacle, but through precision, adaptability, and spatial generosity.
