Samuel Bateman stood trial in Arizona on three child abuse charges after prosecutors alleged he knowingly transported three young girls inside an enclosed cargo trailer with little ventilation, placing them at substantial risk of injury. Acting as his own attorney, Bateman testified in his own defense, but after hearing testimony from the girls, law enforcement officers, and other witnesses, the jury found him guilty on all three counts.
