Australia hosts the G-20 summit this year — an annual forum where leaders from 20 of the world’s major economies discuss global economic issues.

The Leaders’ Summit is the key event and leaders from nineteen countries and the European Union will this year meet in Brisbane on the 15th and 16th of November.

Bala Amarasekaran bought a baby Chimpanzee on impulse – a humane impulse to save the baby chimpanzee dying from dehydration. That changed his life for ever. Bala shares his story of how he has become the first Tamil to run a Chimpanzee Conservatory in Sierra Leone with our producer Kulasegaram Sanchayan.

Recently, The Vilakku Literary Society run by friends of modern Tamil literature living in the United States has honoured Konangi with their annual award dedicated to the promotion of the understanding of modern Tamil literature.

One interview alone cannot do justice to Konangi.  Yet, our presenter Kulasegaram Sanchayan tries to bring the essence of this author of Tamil novels and short stories.

In the first of a two-part interview published on the Internet, we bring to you Konangi’s background, his instigators, and his views on translating literary work.

An Australian study has revealed how drugs used to treat bone diseases like osteoporosis — could also work on tissue cancers.

Using state of the art imaging technology, Sydney’s Garvan Institute has shown the drugs latching onto traces of calcium in the tumours.

That causes dormant immune cells to kick in, improving a patient’s chances of survival.
