  • Faith vs. Manifestation
    Faith vs. Manifestation
    What is Manifestation?
Manifestation is the idea that you can bring a positive outcome into your life by simply “claiming” it as your own and believing it will happen.
secular idea that we are in control of our futures. We have free choice but the Lord directs our path/outcome.
“When you try to manifest a result, you are attempting to pull God out of the equation.” -Watermark Church

    What is true faith?
    Faith is simply trust.
Genuine faith, belief, and trust will move us to action.
    Basic elements of Faith:
    Faith that God exists
    Commitment to believing
Believing that He reveals himself in scripture. (Gotquestions.org)
Taking God at his word and trusting Him to do what he promised.
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
Faith takes risk and trust. “Living by faith and not by sight” Corinthians 5:7
Don’t mix this up for an irrational impulse, not bathed in prayer.
Seek counsel from other believes and truth in God’s word.
Acts of Faith in The Bible:
    Noah building the ark.
Abraham preparing to sacrifice his son.
Rahab sheltering spies in her home.
David using a stone to defeat Goliath.
    Peter walking on water.
“Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” Hebrews 11:6

  • Getting Vulnerable: The importance of vulnerability and communication in relationships

Hi everyone! We hope you had a great Labor Day weekend. We are excited to be back with another episode! Today we are talking about vulnerability and communication. These two areas are key to creating intimacy in our relationships with others around us.

    Show Notes:

    Communication & Vulnerability

    • Addressing unrealistic expectations of one another.
    • Be quick to forgive.
    • Sharing vulnerabilities or insecurities from past or in the present.
    • Learning each other’s communication styles and making adjustments in order to understand each other’s perspectives.
    • Realizing that a relationship is 2 imperfect people submitting to the will of Christ so they can honor each other as one.

      • love language: everyone is different and this can effect communication.
      • Cultivating a safe place where intimacy & vulnerability is accepted and not shamed.
      • God created us to bear each other’s burdens. Share in each others suffering.
      • Addressing childhood experiences/ look at society’s expectations of men compared to women (vulnerability=weakness or emotional)
      • Verses:

“Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”Galatians 6:2

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

        Romans 12:10 NIV

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:” Philippians 2:5 NIV

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2 NIV

      • What Does It Mean To Be Modest?

Welcome back! Today Katie and Alexis are talking about modesty and what the Bible says about this topic. We are reminded that modesty is not just in our dress but in our actions and heart as well.  We dive into our own personal stories how God has transformed our hearts and minds in this realm.

Definition: the quality of not being too proud or confident about yourself or your abilities.

Or: propriety in dress, speech, or conduct.

What does the Bible refer to when it talks about modesty?

When we look at ourselves, (examining the interior & exterior) do we look like we are disciples of Christ or the world?

What is my heart posture? — A godly person strives to do everything with a “God-ward” perspective.

“The key to understanding what constitutes modesty in dress is to examine the attitudes and intents of the heart. Those whose hearts are inclined toward God will make every effort to dress modestly, decently, and appropriately. Those whose hearts are inclined toward self will dress in a manner designed to draw attention to themselves with little or no regard for the consequences to themselves or others.” (gotquestions.org)

      • God Meets Our Emotional Needs

Hey Everyone! Welcome back to The Freedom Podcast, we have a great episode for you all today. We are looking into Psalms 23 and how the Lord promises to meet our every need, even when we are in the most difficult times in our lives.

Make sure to share this one with a friend!

        Show Notes

Psalms 23: God Meets Our Emotional Needs

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

        Psalms 23:1-4 NKJV

        • We try to distract ourselves from the disappointment that life can bring. How does this manifest in todays society? Anxiety, depression, anger, jealousy, no margin in our lives, “busyness”, etc.
        • How does the Lord restore our soul? “He makes us lie down…” Have you ever truly been quiet and still with God?
        • When I go through the valley who/what am I putting my trust in?
        • In what ways do I try to distract myself from my fears & failures instead of running to the Lord & resting in his presence?
        • Do I only lean on God when times are hard?
        • -The temptation in the valley is to quit. But David says even when he’s in the valley he will NOT fear. God gives us a gift even when we’re in the valley. He gives us his presence.

-When we run out of human options we will discover His supernatural presence.

-God doesn’t give us what we want - he gives us what we NEED. What fruit may come from this valley or difficulty that you are going through?

-In the shadows we get to see who God really is. We must not only trust God in the mountain tops but in the valleys.

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.” John 10:27-29 NKJV

        • Pillars of The Gospel: Why am I a Christian?

Welcome Back! Love the show? Make sure to leave us a 5 star review and share this episode with a friend!

          Show Notes:

          Why are we Christians?

          • Important topic to discuss due to false doctrine being SO prevalent - often times we get lost in religion and forget the true gospel
            • Prosperity gospel, health & wealth, works based salvation, being “good enough” to earn our salvation
            • What does it really mean to be a Christian?
              • Surrendering to God, recognizing our own filth / sin, and living by the spirit once we accept Jesus as our Lord & savior
              • The gospel is so beautiful because it does not discriminate based on class, race, gender, background, or status
              • Talk about our own testimonies & our walks with God - what was a turning point for us?
              • What does born again mean? Means “born from above” or “becoming children of God” *see John 3:3-5
              • From the fall of man, each human was born sinful & with a heart loving sin & evil
                • No animal sacrifice would ever be enough to atone for our sin
                  • From crosswalk.com: “God created an atonement for Adam and Eve’s sin based on the shedding of blood of innocent animals. These innocent animals served as substitutes. A substitute paid a price by blood which is accepted by God to restore the broken relationship. That is what we see all throughout the Old Testament in the sacrificial system.” Animals were sacrificed in the Old Testament, and in Genesis 3, to ultimately point to the Lamb of God.
                  • Jesus was sent to earth as the perfect sacrifice for our sin - FINALLY sufficient
                  • His death on the cross is what we actually deserve - it is a free gift to us & nothing we can ever earn
                  • We all fall short & cannot meet Gods criteria. Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
                  • As sinners we are spiritually dead.
                  • From this sacrifice, we can life FROM grace - which produces works & good fruit
                  • Share this freedom with others & bring others to Christ
                    • Our lives are not meant to be lived for ourselves
                    • Ephesians 2: 8-9

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

                      John 14:26

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

                      James 2:26

For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

John 3:3-5 NLT “Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?”“Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”

Ephesians 2:1 “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins…”

Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
