  • 5 Practical Ways To Gain Peace

Welcome to another episode! On this show Katie and Alexis lay out 5 practical steps on how to gain more peace in life. Life is loud, stressful and at times it seems it's impossible to find peace in this day and age. If you feel this way this episode is exactly for you!

    Takeaways:

Peace has little to do with external surroundings.

Peace is not the absence of trouble; it is the presence of God.

The world is always trying to steal our peace and distract us. It has never been harder to focus and the devil LOVES that.

Peace comes from God & we can only feed our souls through Him.

“All things work together for the good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose” Romans 8:28

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” Isaiah 26:3 NLT

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27

  • Spiritual Maturity & Dating Non Believers
    What is spiritual maturity?
-Simply the process of becoming more like Christ (sanctification)
-The whole point of having a faith is to grow in spiritual maturity & Christ likeness.
-Think of a child, a 2 year old should act like a 2 year old we’re okay with that. But if a 12 year is acting like a 2 year old there’s a problem. We would say they are immature.
-Being effective and fruitful in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus is the essence of spiritual maturity.
    Things to remember:
Everyone is at different places in their walk. We shouldn’t judge others but encourage & challenge them along their journey. We should remind baby believers of right and wrong from God’s perspective.
It’s an ongoing process. Refinement never ends.
Spiritual maturity requires a reordering of priorities.
As Christians we have this power to submit to the spirit and be spirit led.
“I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.” Philippians 3:12 NLT
“No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead…” Philippians 3:13 NLT
“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.” 2 Peter 1:3 NLT
“The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.” 2 Peter 1:8-9 NLT
Dangers of dating when you are unequally yoked?
What does the Bible say? Why does this matter?
    A. There is no spiritual harmony (the Bible clearly states this)
“What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever?” 2 Corinthians 6:15 NLT
“And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”2 Corinthians 6:16 NLT
    B. Bad company corrupts good character. Dating/marrying a non believer can and will hinder your walk. (Corinthians 15:33)
    C. Settling for a relationship that is not God centered will NOT strengthen your relationship with God. It will be a distraction & potentially cause you to fall away from God’s will. Are you distracted or focused?
    D. When you choose to date someone, they are a potential marriage partner. You want to choose someone you desire to be on mission with.
    E. Is your purpose aligned with their purpose?

  • Can God Use Me?

Can God Use Me? Short answer, yes! God cannot wait to use you for His glory! On this episode the girls dive into the truth about being used by God and how every believer is called to share the gospel. Katie and Alexis talk about their own personal struggles and how the Lord has guided them. through the process of sanctification and forgiveness.

    NOTES:

    • We often chase the idea of being “good enough” or “holy enough” to be used by God (checking off boxes & attempting to be worthy)
    • We have to understand we will never be good enough without Christ. We are not complete alone.
    • God uses imperfect people because he doesn’t have a choice otherwise. He knows we are fallen. (Everyone used by God was imperfect aside from Jesus)
    • Think about the disciples/famous people in the Bible: Were they perfect? Did Jesus still use them?
    • God has paid for your sins & wants to use you for his kingdom.
    • He has a plan for your life: spread the gospel with the gifts and talents he has given you.
    • He will use your struggle & brokenness to reach others. It can be a powerful part of your testimony.
    • God uses the foolish to confound the wise. He likes a “comeback” story that no one thinks is possible.

    • Why Men Need Women - God's Divine Design Pt. 2
Episode 25: Why Men Need Women
“The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord.” Proverbs 18:22 NLT
It is not good for man to be alone. This implies that Adam was incomplete by himself. “Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” Genesis 2:18 NLT
Eve made up for Adam’s deficiencies.God recognized that there was a lacking in the mans life without a woman. That’s why the women was created to help the man.
God is our helper. The same Jewish terminology used in Gen 2:18 is used when describing God/HS. The idea is that woman is the ideal partner to man.
Woman was not created above or below but equal to man. The Hebrew word “Kenegdow” is used in the verse as well meaning: “according to the opposite of him”.
We are created for relationships. GOD CREATED US TO NEED COMPANIONSHIP.♦️Ephesians 5:31 “As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”
This does not mean that everyone needs a husband or wife. Look at the apostle Paul, saying that celibacy is a good thing as a believer (1 Cor. 7:7-9) and we can devote more time and attention to God potentially, if we are not married.
      Additional Notes:
▫️Helpmeet: suitable, fit, proper for Adam. (Synonym for helpmate)
The character of God is embodied in a man AND a woman. Femininity and the relational side of women is a part of God’s character.
      Masculinity : strength, protection, respect
Femininity: nurturing, loving, giver of life
All of these characteristics are embodied in men and women - not one gender
Men and women were made different ON PURPOSE and for God’s purpose.
“Be fruitful and multiply” applies to man and woman coming together for reproduction & attending to the growth of humanity.
      1 Corinthians 11:12
“Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman; for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman. And all things are from God."

    • How to Develop Spiritual Discernment

⭐️ Want to watch this episode? Be sure to check out the full episode on Youtube

EPISODE NOTES: What is spiritual discernment? It is the ability to tell the difference between truth and error.

      1. Wisdom is unattainable without God. The devils task in this life is to “blind the minds of unbelievers” -Without Christ we are blind fools.
      2. The world’s way of getting wisdom is different from God’s way. It is not bad to be knowledgeable or educated but spiritual discernment cannot be attained through worldly knowledge.
      3. Spiritual discernment ultimately has to do with wisdom and the ability to distinguish truth from error.
      4. How do we develop discernment?
        • A. Ask for it & pray for God’s knowledge to be revealed.
        • “‘Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise.” Proverbs 1:23 NLT
        • B. Train & practice through learning biblical truths. We need meat not milk to develop. Discernment is revealed through Christ and “developed through training in righteousness & prayer”
        • “But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.” Hebrews 5:14
        • We gain discernment by getting to know Jesus through his word then aligning our lives with his truth.

          • How can we know truth from a lie if we don’t know the truth in the first place? Think counterfeit money, do you study all the fakes or become extremely knowledgeable with the real thing?
          • “The heart of spiritual discernment is being able to distinguish the voice of the world from the voice of God”

          • Cancel Culture

            Podcast Notes: Cancel Culture

            • What is the problem with cancelling people?
            • Jesus invited the “cancellable” people into his presence.
            • Why is cancel culture dangerous? What happens if someone cancels us?
            • Is anyone truly “cancellable?”
            • Do Christians tend to cancel people too?
            • Our own personal example of being cancelled or seeing someone cancelled.
            • Cancelling stems from pride and judgement (mention previous podcast on pride)
            • “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?”

              Jeremiah 17:9 NLT

“And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life. But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.”

              Matthew 19:29-30 NLT

“Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.”

              Galatians 1:10 NLT

“The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.”

              John 15:19 NLT

            • Why Women Need Men — God’s Divine Design
Show Summary: Why Women Need Men
Where was this first seen in the Bible?
Think Eve in the garden, encouraging her husband to eat the apple. She took on the role of the leader.
“Then he said to the woman, “I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy, and in pain you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you. ” Genesis 3:16
              1. What is the mans role in the Bible?
God created man first then the woman from man.
“Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” Genesis 2:18 NLT
The mans position is over his wife and under Christ.
Man is the protector & provider
Man is called to be the leader of his household
The man leaves his parents and is joined to his wife, the two become one. (Genesis 2:24)
“But there is one thing I want you to know: The head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” 1 Corinthians 11:3 NLT
              2. What is the women’s role in the Bible?
“Man was not made from woman. Woman was made from man, and man was not made for woman. Woman was made for man.”  1 Corinthians 11: 8-9
              The women is the helper
              Child barrier
Women need to accept the authority of the man (in the context of marriage). Women are not called to submit to any random man - they are called to submit to their husband’s authority.
“Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.” Genesis 2:22 NLT
              3. Men and women are both created in the image of God. Our position is dominion over ALL creation. Men and women are equal partners in marriage (1 Peter 3:7)
Both possess equal value and dignity as divine image-bearers
Male and female share equally in the assignment to rule over God’s creation. God commands male and female to “be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it” (Gen 1:28)
Excerpt from the gospel coalition:  Even though God’s good design in creation may be marred by the Fall and by sin, God’s good design is not erased by the Fall and by sin. As the apostle Paul writes, “For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer” (1Tim 4:4–5). Adam and Eve are indeed paradigms of difference even after the Fall, and those complementary differences have been pronounced “good” by God, and they are still good today.
              4. How has modern feminism skewed God’s original design?
              Demonizing men (hating patriarchy)
Encouraging women to “be like men” (a push for pursuit of high ranking job positions, high incomes)
Encouraging promiscuity, abortion, overall sexual sin (my body, my choice)
              Pushing gay/lesbian/trans agenda
Viewing women as the leader versus submissive to her husband.

            • Let's Talk About Pride

What is pride? In today's culture self-centeredness seems to be a virtue. What does God say about pride? What does He say about humility?

On this episode Katie and Alexis dive into original sin and how pride was at the root of the fall of man. They talk about their own personal struggles with pride and how humility is not a natural posture. Humility is a gift from God, Jesus was the most meek and humble human to walk the earth. We are called to be like Christ, we are called to be humble.

              From Mere Christianity: CS Lewis

“According to Christian teachers, the essential vice, the utmost evil, is Pride. Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness, and all that, are mere flea bites in comparison: it was through Pride that the devil became the devil: Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind…it is Pride which has been the chief cause of misery in every nation and every family since the world began.”
