  • Which practice helps to remove negative memories from brain?

There is no such thing as forgetting anything. Everything is within our memory. But we need to decide which memory is necessary and which one is not. We should remove unnecessary memories and strengthen the important ones.

This can be done by practicing a simple breathing technique. When we inhale, impressions(memories) are recorded in our brain; when we exhale,  impressions are released.

Therefore, to remove the impressions recorded in our mind, take deep, conscious breaths. While exhaling, bring to mind the thought that repeatedly causes you pain or distress. As you breathe out, mentally affirm, “Let this thought leave me.”
In doing so, those thoughts gradually get erased from the brain’s records.

  • How does good eating habit changes our mind positively?

The mind is the cause of everything. It is said that the nature of the blood flowing in the human body itself is the mind. In general, foods are classified into three qualities or Gunas; tamasic, rajasic, and sattvic. Every food and plant carries these inherent energies. Whatever we choose to consume, that very guna becomes a part of us, influencing our body, mind, and soul.

If we desire to cultivate pure sattvic guna, it is best to consume sattvic foods. By absorbing such foods, pure blood is formed within us. The root of everything lies in the function of the blood flowing through the human body — that itself is the mind. All desires and cravings arise from the mind. To know the mind is true knowledge.

When one engages in regular deep meditation at the crown chakra(uchi—sahasraram), whatever we consume affects the quality of meditation. Hence to achieve higher states of meditation, control in food practices is of utmost importance.

When we consume sattvic foods, it gives us sattvic energy/guna. On consuming Rajo foods, it gives us Rajo guna. Same way Tamo foods imparts Tamo guna/qualities in us.
Food, mind, and guna (quality or energy) are all deeply interconnected. Hence, consuming sattvic foods is essential for deeper meditation/dhavam.

  • How to achieve balance from all discriminatory thoughts that arises in the mind? |

The divine state Is said to be the true self state. When one remains in their natural state, equilibrium is seen in all circumstances. By rising above the superiority and inferiority complex, and by understanding both the good and the bad, we walk only on the righteous path. The reason is, once we realize the truth that everything originated from the same fundamental source, we will be able to see the balance in all living beings.

In the path of family life, we choose to see only the sacred state of love — in our mother who gave us life and raised us with care, in our wife who journeyed with us for the sake of family and future generations, in our sister who shares our very blood, in our daughter and granddaughter who carry our legacy forward. We also extend that same love to  our neighbours, friends, or even strangers. We come to a state of mind beyond all notions of superiority and inferiority. Similarly, in the offices where we work, we develop the maturity to respect those above us and love those below us with kindness, and to act with awareness of others’ feelings and perspectives.

The cause of all this lies In contemplation within oneself. This inward contemplation is what is referred to as ‘Dhyana’.  The solution to everything is Dhyana (meditation). Therefore, when a person deeply meditates and contemplates within, again and again, clarity emerges in their thoughts, and from that clarity, matured wisdom is born. Thus, a person who has attained wisdom lives with balance and equanimity in all situations.

In both humans and other living beings, he sees no dominance or subordination. Because the same essence exists within everyone. Since he perceives that oneness in all, a state free from superiority and inferiority arises in him. As a result, he is able to maintain equanimity at all times in his life. Without making a distinction between givers and non-givers, he develops an attitude of acceptance toward everyone.

  • Beyond the Body, Beyond the Mind: A glimpse of the true self |

In life, we try to understand each other — to understand another person’s mind and intellect. We strive to gain a clear understanding of the world around us. Yet, we often fail to truly understand our own minds.

If one understands their own mind and intellect, they can understand the intellect of others as well. When we learn to value our own intellect, we begin to appreciate the intellectual abilities of others too.
When we see someone who is greater than ourselves, we tend to feel envy. Traits like envy pull all our emotions downward. They prevent us from recognizing and appreciating the greatness in others.

That is why true awareness is so important. Those who attain true awareness (through initiation from UPF) gain the ability to understand both the inner world and the outer world. Those who attain true awareness develop the ability to rise above the pleasures and pains experienced by the body, as long as they remain in that state of awareness.

The Intellect perceives that the body has been hit, and it experiences that as pain. But the Self — the soul, the true “I” — was never struck. The soul can never be harmed. The soul never gets wet. The soul can never be burned. Therefore, those who attain the inner awareness of the soul, beyond all these external experiences — have no sorrow in life.

  • Thirumandhiram 1598 : By beholding the holy feet of Guru, what do we gain? |

Jnana of Holy Feet makes you Siva,
Jnana of Holy Feet takes you to world of Siva,
Jnana of Holy Feet free you from imprisoned impurities,
Jnana of Holy Feet is Siddhi and Mukti too.

Jñānam (Knowledge) means perceiving things as they truly are — the clarity of understanding. This Jñānam is divided into two types: external knowledge and internal knowledge.
Learning about the external world is called science, while learning about the inner self is called true knowledge or spiritual wisdom. Divine Foot Knowledge (Thiru Adi Jñānam):
"Thiru" means God. The wisdom of one who is devoted to the feet of the Divine/Guru transforms them into Shivam (a state of divine bliss or consciousness).

    Line 1:
This Thiru Adi Jñānam transforms a person into Shivam. You are that. That Shivam — the divine — is already within us.
    How can one realize it?
For that, one needs shiva-consciousness — an inner awareness of Shiva. First, one begins by understanding Shiva in form, then by experiencing Shiva as mantra or linga,
and finally, by realizing Shiva as pure inner awareness. This is the journey from form to formless, from knowledge to realization. That Thiru Adi — the Divine Foot — is at the crown, the highest chakra (Sahasrara). It makes the person Shiva-like, filled with divine essence and awareness.
That jivan (soul) resides in the bhu loka — the earthly realm, the world where people live and experience life. Here, the five senses are active and engaged with the material world. But our true purpose is to reach Siva loka — the divine realm of Siva. In our body, all the realms (lokas) are present. Each chakra corresponds to a different realm or state of existence. Here’s how the chakras in our body align with different lokas:
Mooladhara (Root Chakra): Bhū Loka, Svadhishthana (Sacral Chakra): Bhuvar Loka
Manipura (Solar Plexus Chakra): Svar Loka,
    Anahata (Heart Chakra):  Maharloka,
    Vishuddha (Throat Chakra): Janaloka
    Ajna (Third Eye Chakra): Tapoloka,
Sahasrara (Crown Chakra): Satyaloka/ Atma loka/ brahma loka.
Wherever that consciousness or awareness is centered, the qualities of that realm/loka manifest in that person.

When a person crosses these six realms/lokas/chakras and reaches the place where the sacred feet of the Divine are located (Sahasrara) that divine wisdom leads the soul to Siva Loka, the realm of Shiva which is the highest state of spiritual realization.

This soul is imprisoned by all the impurities:

    Wish (Kaamam),

     anger (Krodham), கோபம்

    Desire (Lobam),

     Attachment (Mogam),

    pride (Madham), கர்வம்

    jealousy (Matsaryam), பொறாமை

The soul is liberated from these impurities and rescued through the divine wisdom, which helps it break free from the three main impurities — Aanavam, Kaamam, and Maya — leading to true spiritual wisdom.

This divine wisdom grants moksha for the soul, which is the state of ultimate liberation.

What is prayer? How does it impact our daily life?

What is prayer? There are three aspects to it: the one who prays, the divine being to whom the prayer is offered, and the reason or cause for the prayer.

The one who prays, from time to time, prays for various aspects of personal life such as physical health, mental well-being, intellectual growth, family welfare, and material prosperity. The same person, in this prayer, refers to the individual, the individual’s family, economic status, profession, and their betterment. This is considered personal worship or personal prayer, and it is called sincere (or heartfelt) prayer. An individual goes to temples and prays. At that time, during the collective prayer in the temple, when he prays not for his own well-being but for the welfare of the nation and the world, it is called selfless prayer— Paramarthiga prayer. Therefore, the one who prays, the divine being to whom the prayer is directed, and the purpose of the prayer — all three must be present.

    A prayer for personal well-being:
If you want food, you can ask and receive it from the mother.
If you want material wealth, you can ask and receive it from the father.
If you want education, you can ask and receive it from the teacher.
But if you want to receive everything, you must ask and receive it from God.
    Do you seek good health?
Do you long for peace of mind?
Do you wish for knowledge and wisdom?
Do you desire wealth and prosperity?
Do you hope for a long life?

Whatever you seek — ask it from the One who possesses it all. And when you look for who holds all these in this world, It is only the Almighty God who is the possessor of all blessings and powers.

A person is a complete human being only if he knows four types of sciences

A human being is one who possesses four kinds of dimensions: the first dimension is the physical state, the second is the mental state, the third is the intellectual state, and the fourth is the spiritual state. When a human being becomes aware of these four dimensions, he opens the path to complete inner evolution and realization. Upanishads say that Know that one, by knowing which, all is known. That one is Brahmam. By realizing the Brahmam, one comes to know everything. That is by realising ones Atma, one comes to know everything.

That Brahmam is none other than you. The Atman is the true Self within every human. Just as a human has four dimensions, so too does Brahmam express through these four. To realize oneself fully, one must come to know and live through all four dimensions.

When one has knowledge of the body, they often remain unaware of the mind. Yet, they stop there, making no effort to explore further. They assume they know everything, without seeking deeper understanding. Even if one knows everything else, they may still remain unaware of spiritual science, the highest knowledge of all.

Only when a human being understands the four types of sciences — physical science, mental science, intellectual science and spiritual science — can he be considered a complete human.

  • How Does Following a Guru Lead to Divine Realization |

If we want to reach a noble and elevated state in life, we need a Guru (spiritual teacher or guide). When we travel from one place to another, we see signboards guiding us. Only if we trust those signboards can we reach our destination. In the same way, we place our trust and faith in the Guru.

Why do we believe in a Guru? Everything we need is given to us by the universal energy. To attain that universal energy, we must trust someone who has already realized and experienced it. By listening to their words and following their path, we can surely reach our destined goal.

For example, if one aspires to become a sportsman or sportswoman, true success can be achieved only by following the guidance of someone who is already experienced and accomplished in that field. Similarly, we worship both the Almighty and the Guru who helps us reach that divine state.

The faith and respect we place in something is what truly protects and guides us. If a person becomes arrogant and proud, thinking he is superior in everything and that others are beneath him, such an attitude will only bring harm both to him and to society. Above all, there is always something greater. One must realize that even the most powerful has someone more powerful above him.

Attaining the divine state is the ultimate purpose of human birth. A true guide who leads us toward that divine state is the Guru. Therefore, when we listen to the words of the Guru and offer our reverence to him, we are, in fact, progressing toward that higher state.
The Guru and God are not separate. The one who has attained the divine state is the Guru. Therefore, when we see the Guru—who has realized that divine state—as sacred and as God Himself, and follow him with devotion, we too can attain that divine state.

  • Guru is the source of all creation in the universe |

    Sthoola Guru – Physical Guru
    Sookshuma Guru – Subtle Guru
Kaarana Guru – Causal Guru — the ultimate cause or source behind the creation of this universe. From the sacred will of the Guru known as the Supreme Atom (parabrahmam), this entire universe came into being and expanded. It is from the divine thought of that Guru that all of creation has unfolded and evolved.

From the Guru — who is none other than the Supreme Consciousness — nothing separate has arisen. All that exists has manifested as an expression of the Guru. He did not create something other; He became everything. Thus, the universe itself is the Guru in form, in motion, in essence. This is the philosophy of the universe (Prapanja Tattvam), the philosophy of Brahman (Brahma Tattvam), and the philosophy of the soul (Atma Tattvam) — above all these, there is no philosophy higher than the Guru Tattvam (the principle of the Guru).

‘Tat’ means ‘That’, referring to the ultimate reality or the divine. ‘Tvam’ means “You” (the individual self). When combined in “Tattvam” or “Tattva”, it refers to the principle that reveals or makes one realize That as it truly is.

    The Guru is truly Brahma,
    The Guru is truly Vishnu,
The Guru is truly Maheshwara (Shiva).
The Guru is indeed the embodiment of the Supreme Brahman (Parabrahman). That Guru shines as the Creator, The Protector, and the Dissolver — He is everything, the all-pervading divine essence.
This reflects the essence of the Guru Stotram — seeing the Guru not just as a teacher, but as the very manifestation of the divine in all its forms.

Guru Tattvam shines as the essence of Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. It is the source of all powers, the fundamental energy behind everything. One must strive to realize and know that supreme power.
The Guru Is the Paranjothi, the Supreme Light, who dwells in the all-powerful and complete Absolute (Paripuranam).
That Guru must be contemplated with our thoughts, words, and actions.

  • Consequence of good relationship and our actions |

If a man has a good partner, he will have a joyful life throughout his lifetime. Likewise, if a man does good deeds, he will gain prosperity and motivation throughout his life. That’s why the wise always said one should join and associate with the righteous. You take on the nature of the one you associate with.

For example, a money plant grows according to the environment in which it is planted. It can thrive in a small glass bottle, or it can grow much larger in an open space under a banyan or any big tree. The plant receives the influence of whatever it is associated with.
Likewise, if we have the support of a strong and wise person, we will gain great prosperity. That is why a partner is very important in one’s life. If a man finds a good life partner, his life will become a meaningful and prosperous one.

A person must also have good deeds. Because this world functions based on actions and their consequences. Whatever action you do, you will receive a result that matches it. If you want good results, you must do good deeds. To be well today, you must have done the right actions yesterday. You must have eaten good food, drunk clean water, and breathed fresh air. If the air we breathe is not pure, we will feel tired throughout the day.  In the same way, if we don’t eat proper food, our body and mind won’t function well.

For example, every part of the Moringa tree—its leaves, flowers, etc are beneficial for health. However, if even one leaf turns yellow and is consumed, it can cause a stomach upset.  In the same way, if we commit bad deeds—whether knowingly or unknowingly—we will still have to face the consequences.
