Candice Leigh (@nakedyogatherapy, nakedyogatherapy.com) was years into yoga before the question came, what is the yoga of sex? ~
Her teacher didn't have an answer, so she found her way through the forest of tantra, sexological bodywork and somatic experiencing (SE) to create Naked Yoga Therapy in New York, USA. ~
As she tells here, most of her solo sessions, couples work and group classes aren't actually naked, though that is an amazing experience that can teach us so much about ourselves, unhelpful messages we got around our bodies and sexuality, even around social interaction; that can remind us to feel the joy of simply existing, moving, with elements all around. ~
Rather, naked is about plainly facing oneself and bringing that in to facing another. The idea is, the more self-accepting and self-embracing we are, the more we can really let ourselves connect with others, especially in the intimate places we so crave. In the same way that emotional vulnerability can be even more powerful than nudity, emotional intimacy can be more powerful than sex, although a wonderful conclusion of all this is to bring the two together. ~
Thanks Candice for sharing the fruit of your travels and integration in the mind/body/soul, and expressing it so movingly. ~
