In this first audio of the series, Vasant Swaha introduces us to the Fragrance of the Buddha and how we have lost contact with it. Through recalling the Four Noble Truths of Buddha, he reminds us that it has become a forgotten part of ourselves due to our involvement with the outer factors that take us far away from this moment. However, there is a way back to our being and the Master is proof of that, he is an invitation to return to the essence.

A taoist is one who is in tune with life, flowing effortlessly through all that life has to offer us. In this audio, Vasant Swaha shares a story about a sage who became known in old China for the apparent miraculous ways that he approached situations that unfolded in his life. The story goes that while hunting in the central mountains, General Shao Zu set fire to the forest to burn down the tall grass; then he was surprised when he saw the sage walking out of the forest unharmed. The crowd who witnessed this, and the emperors who heard about this story later, were all intrigued by the nature of such a man.

“The greatest luxury in this world is to enjoy your own Self.” - Vasant Swaha
This excerpt is from a Satsang from the silent phase of a retreat. Swaha talks about the value of silence, and finding ourselves in the silence. “To be a nobody is the most extraordinary in this world, because everybody wants to be somebody.”
At a time when all the religions of the East talked about “finding your Self,” the Buddha declared there was no Self. Swaha explores this point of view - “What is yours in silence? What is yours in love?” and talks about finding out who you are beyond the physical body.
The Taoists, with their down-to-earth approach, address this topic with a sweet little koan.
Swaha reads words from Chuang Tzu on how to live in an easy and harmonious way. The secret is to become an empty boat crossing the river of life.

“O maior luxo deste mundo é aproveitar o próprio Eu”. - Vasant Swaha

“The Master does nothing. Yet, he leaves nothing undone.” - Lao Tzu
There are two fundamentally different ways of living life: the way of doing, and the way of relaxing and allowing, where things still happen.
The inner realm has different Laws to the outer; you can have power and strength without doing anything. This is at the root of martial arts such as aikido. Being in a meditative state, free of fear, one becomes capable of responding in the moment and using the energy of the situation. As the Taoists say, the softest substance in this work overcomes the hardest.

“When the shoe fits,
the foot is forgotten.
When the belt fits,
the belly is forgotten.”
In this excerpt from a Satsang, Swaha reads Chuang Tzu 's mind-bending verses about harmony in living.
“Easy is right.
Begin right, and you are easy.
Continue easy, and you are right.”
When you are in balance, you go beyond “right and wrong.” You simply see things as they are. Resting in yourself, you find freedom. Life is a gift, enjoy, celebrate.
