God made a promise to King David that his bloodline would sit on the throne of Israel forever. That promise was called the Davidic Covenant — and for 325 years, it was tested by 20 kings, hostile nations, and one wicked queen who came within one baby of ending it entirely.

Israel didn’t just wake up one day with a bad king; they fired God as their King and asked to be “like all the other nations” instead.

In Week 4 of “The Story of God,” we ride through the lives of Saul, David, and Solomon to see what God looks for in a man and what destroys a kingdom from the inside out. Saul starts humble and obedient, then forgets who got him there—impatience, half‑obedience, and excuses cost him everything.
