Bangladeshi American Nina Ahmad running for Lieutenant Governor from Pennsylvania state. She served on Obama’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. 

Nina has led important efforts to fight workplace discrimination and harassment which undermines woman and people of color economically.

She left Bangladesh for the US at the age of 21 and went on to earn her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania before becoming a successful molecular biologist and entrepreneur.

যদিও গত বছরের শেষের দিকে তিনি মার্কিন প্রতিনিধি পরিষদে নির্বাচন করার ঘোষণা দিয়েছিলেন। কংগ্রেসানাল জেলায় নির্বাচনী মানচিত্রে পরিবর্তন আসায় লেফটেন্যান্ট গভর্নর পদে নির্বাচনের সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন ড. নিনা। 

Department of Home Affairs of the Australian Government made changes to the list of eligible skilled occupations for its skilled visa programs from 18 March 2018.

After a four-day review meeting United Nation's Committee for Development Policy (CDP) announced Bangladesh's eligibility for graduating from a least developed country to a developing nation status.

As per graduation process Bangladesh now would be observed from today for three years till 2021 and if the existing development as per index continues during this period the UN will provide another three year from 2021 to 2024 and after that Bangladesh will be a member of developing nations' club.

Australia government introduced a new visa scheme. The new Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa now places the Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457). Australian employers can import highly skilled foreign workers from July 1, under a new trial.

She got this award for her contribution to Bankstown and the broader community.

Bangladseh ethnic minority Migrant makes history in higher education 

Adelaide-based refugee support worker Rupananda Roy has made history by becoming the first woman from one of Bangladesh’s 50 ethnic minority communities to earn a doctorate. 

She recently gained her PhD in Development Studies from the University of Adelaide. 

Ms Roy, an ethnic Chakma, who is part of settlement agency AMES Australia’s Humanitarian Settlement program (HSP) team in South Australia, says she is in two minds about her historic achievement.
