While the pandemic lockdowns limited access to physical gambling venues, the impact of lockdown hasn’t shrunk the actual offering of gambling products in Australia. Increases in online gambling and wagering app downloads reflect a shift in behaviour, with a worrying spike in gambling issues among younger Australians.

In this interview Ismet Taştan, Co-Chair of the Federation of Democratic Kurdish Society-Australia, talks to SBS Kurdish about renovating the community Centre and getting a helping hand from members of the Kurdish community in Sydney and a grant from the government to renovate the centre.

Bjeen Alhassan 28, fled to Germany from the Kurdish city of Qamishlo in northeast Syria in 2014 and six years on she's awarded the 2020 National Integration Prize by Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Shano Seamand has been diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called Frierdreich's Ataxsia. She has recently published her first book "Let Me Be Your Voice" where she talks about her battle with the disease and her determination to live her life to its fullest, after giving up for almost five years. Shano says she was often discouraged to try new things by her doctors as well as as teacher when she was at school. For years she searched for a voice to help her get through the days, and motivate her to keep going, until she decide to be that voice...
