26 جنوری 1788 کو پہلی مرتبہ آسٹریلیا کے ساحلوں پر  برطانوی بحری بیڑہ لنگر انداز ہوا تھا- حکومتی سطح پر اسے آسٹریلیا ڈے کے طور پر منایا جاتا ہے جبکہ کچھ لوگ اسے سیاہ دن اور دکھ کی گھڑی سے تشبیہ دیتے ہیں- مزید سنیے اس پوڈکاسٹ میں-

Shamaila Habib is also one of them and she feels her overseas travelling will be easy after getting Australian passport. Currently, she does not enjoy visa-free entry when travelling to Dubai to see her parents. Despite having privilege of Australian citizenship, she has reservations on celebrating Australia day on 26th. January.

اس سال ستائیس ہزارسے ذیادہ افراد آسٹریلین شہریت حاصل کرکے آسٹریلیا ڈے منا رہے ہیں یہ چھبیس جنوری کو آسٹریلین شہریت حاصل کرنے والوں کی سب سے بڑی تعداد ہے۔ میلبورن میں رہنے والی شمائلہ حبیب بھی اسی دن شہریت حاصل کر رہی ہیں جبکہ ان کے بچے اور شوہر پہلے ہی آسٹریلن شہریت رکھتے ہیں۔  ان کے والدین دبئ میں رہتے ہیں اس لئے وہ کہتی ہیں کہ آسٹریلین پاسپورٹ ملنے کے بعد انہیں دبئ ائیرپورٹ پر لمبی ۡقطار میں نہیں لگنا پڑے گا اور زندگی آسان ہو جائے گی ۔آسٹریلین شہریت کے فوائد اپنی جگہ مگر  چھبیس جنوری کو آسٹریلین منانے پر ان کے اپنے تحفظات بھی ہیں۔

Mariam's parents moved from Pakistan to Wagga Wagga two decades ago. Now she runs a branding agency in the regional city, and says living in the rural town helped her to appreciate her dual cultural identity.

Pakistan welfare organisation along with a group of volunteers delivered much-needed food and household items to the bushfire affected community of Bruthen in Victoria.
