It’s a TV series about a group of teens growing up in Northern Ireland in the 1990s during the Troubles. It’s also laugh-out-loud funny.
We’re talking about the charming, if somewhat irreverent coming-of-age TV show “Derry Girls,” and in this ‘grand’ episode we take you behind the scenes with the whole gang– Erin, Michelle, Orla, Clare, the wee English fella, and even Sister Michael!
What characters and events in “Derry Girls” are based on creator/writer Lisa McGee’s own life? How did it affect “Derry Girls” when a lead cast member landed a role in “Bridgerton” between seasons 2 and 3? How do the storylines blend humor with history? And what happens to the main characters after the show ends, according to Lisa McGee? We discuss all this and more!

Miss this episode on the beloved rom-com “Clueless” that tells the story of Cher, a self-absorbed Betty with a heart of gold, whose annoying step-brother Josh (a Baldwin himself!) ends up being her love interest? As if!
This classic 90s film was more than just a work of entertainment. It not only changed the way we speak, but also influenced fashion and launched the careers of young stars such as Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Brittany Murphy, Stacey Dash, and Donald Faison.
But on what 1815 novel was the movie based, and why was it rejected so many times? Why did writer and director Amy Heckerling have Alicia Silverstone in mind for Cher even before the script was finished? What memories do cast memories have of Brittany Murphy? And how did the focus on fashion (Cher alone had 64 changes!) challenge the cast and costume designer? You’ll feel, well, clueless if you miss out on this fun episode!

They first crossed paths in 1978 when Kyra Sedgwick was 12 and Kevin Bacon 19, though he doesn’t remember it! The pre-teen complimented the young actor after seeing Kevin perform in an Off-Broadway play.
Named the greatest actor of the 20th century by the New York Times in 2020, Denzel Washington is one of today’s most well-known and highly respected actors.
Less well-known is his wife of 41 years, Pauletta Washington, an accomplished musician and actress with whom Denzel has shared a life and raised four successful children… and without whom Denzel has said, “I wouldn’t be alive.”
In this episode, we celebrate the love story of Denzel and Pauletta Washington, while also highlighting interesting information about the couple’s individual lives and careers.
What event during his childhood does Denzel credit with helping him avoid a future in the penitentiary? How did Pauletta make North Carolina history in 1970? How did the couple connect… and why do their respective versions of the story differ slightly? 😉 What does Denzel consider to be “the biggest moment” of his life, and what recent project was a family affair, involving all 6 members of the Washington family? It’s the 3rd deadliest nightclub fire in US history and the reason you see a maximum capacity sign posted in every restaurant and bar you enter.
Yet many have never heard of the horrific fire that ravaged the Beverly Hills Supper Club in May of 1977, killing 165 people and injuring 200.
Known as the “Showplace of the Midwest,” the opulent, sprawling facility located in Southgate, Kentucky, not only offered event space, but also boasted wildly popular Vegas-style performers and acts.
The evening of May 28, 1977, approximately 1200 people crowded into the cabaret room to see the legendary performer John Davidson, never dreaming their night would end in a nightmare of flames and toxic fumes.
Join us as we revisit not only the circumstances behind the tragic Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire, but also the impact it had on fire safety codes and the mystery that still lingers.

Special thanks to friend and listener Rich for submitting “The Fugitive” as his Fan Favorite topic and providing audio for the new introduction.
Part 1: (Originally aired 11/5/2024)
Accused of brutally murdering his wife, Dr. Richard Kimble, played by megastar Harrison Ford, is relentlessly pursued by the shrewd and witty U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard, played by Tommy Lee Jones.
This is the simple but engaging premise behind the 1993 blockbuster “The Fugitive.”
But what’s the story behind the making of this smash hit? That’s the question we track down in this episode– the first of a two-part feature on everyone’s favorite ‘wrongly-accused’ film, “The Fugitive.”
On what true crime case was the original TV series “The Fugitive” allegedly based? How did the movie’s plot evolve as it moved through the various screenwriters who worked on it? What impact did Harrison Ford have on the film, and why was he initially reluctant to bring in Tommy Lee Jones? And just how much of the dialogue actually was improvised?
Part 2: (Originally aired 11/12/2024)
U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard may not care, but we certainly do!
A box office hit and critical success when it was released 41 years ago, ”The Fugitive” is still highly regarded today, with many ranking the lead actors’ performances among their very best.
But what, exactly, is it about this movie that makes it SO good?
That’s what Ashley and Candy discuss as they break down one of Ashley’s favorite films, “The Fugitive.” Join the fun as they weigh in on everything from the cast, to the special effects, to the last-minute script changes, and so much more.
