Scared To Death

In this fourteenth installment of fictional horror written and narrated by Dan Cummins.... we hear meet Clifford Herman aka The Devil's Butcher. What happened to the teenager at a Christian summer camp in upstate New York in 1987? And how will the massacre he was responsible for affect the lives of five college students who decide to visit the allegedly haunted grounds of the old summer camp today?

This episode was scored by Logan Keith. We recommend listening with headphones to experience the full effect of all the creepy background noises!  If you like this episode, please let us know wherever you rate and review podcasts. Thanks so much!

Dan's first tale he is telling is about an anonymous woman allegedly encountering something terrifying in a stairwell. Then, in his second storey,  we learn about an allegedly cursed painting, The Crying Boy, produced by Italian artist Giovanni Bragolin. This painting was mass produced, and an alarming number of homes where prints of this painting have been displayed have burned down over the years. Yet the print itself almost never burns with them. Coincidence? Let's dig in. Lynze has some awesome fan submitted horror this week! The first is a classic road trip story that has a young couple spending the night in a creepy motel. Then, to finish out the episode, Lynze has a story about a little kids nightmares coming to haunt his whole family.

Cummins Family Scholarship: We want to give a MASSIVE shoutout to this years scholarship recipients! Sarah DeZwaan, Letha Dennison, Jessie Peckham and Liam Watson!! We are so damn proud of each of you for pursuits. I am especially touched by one of our recipients who shared with me that they lived a life full of addiction but were able to get clean and get their life back on track. This person will finish college and become a nurse at the age of 50. Going to show that you CAN start over and that you CAN make a difference, no matter what your position in life. We are deeply honored to be able to offer a small amount of support to these folks. And, as always, we are so grateful to our community of Patrons who continue to pay for content each month that allows us to do this!

Dan has one really big tale that is beyond captivating and unsettling. It's hard to say more without ruining the story. Then, Lynze brings us three stories this week. Her first is a about a possible encounter with a BEK, kind of. Less of a child and more of an adult. Maybe. Then, did a young boy see the infamous Hat Man or was it someone else? Lastly, fearing things that come out from under our bed is a classic horror trope. But what if you DID see something under your bed??!!

Dan crushes this week with one giant tale out of Alaska and a smaller tale from Spain! His first story will take you on a road trip to the northern tip of Alaska, up in the Arctic Circle where life is hard, sparse, and maybe more diverse than we currently know of with certainty? Did some young friends run across a murderous monster of some sort? Then to Spain we go! Is the House of Seven Chimneys in Madrid Spain haunted by the ghosts of two people connected to a possible early and unsolved murder involving the Spanish King? Next up, Lynze has some awesome stories too! First up, we explore some Mexican Folklore. Can you guess the folklore before it's revealed? Then, in her last story, a feeling we all know all too well. Just when you think you are alone...

Patreon Monthly Donation: Thinking about how crazy the weather is every year with fires, tornadoes and hurricane, we decided this months charity should be the Y’all Squad! Their mission is simple yet critical: to be among the first on the scene when a tornado, hurricane, or any other weather-related disaster strikes, and ask, "how can we help?". They aim to give the affected communities the necessary support and resources for recovery by way of rapid response from their team members closest to the area. Big thanks to Madison Wilson for sharing this charity with us. They remind me of us, if we had a relief charity. We sent them $12,320 while setting aside $1,370 for the scholarship fund. Dan shares two stories. The first one is a big one. We’ll visit the Gunter Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. Did an infamous murder committed there in 1965 lead to the hotel gaining a reputation for being particularly haunted?  The history at the top of this tale is awesome!  Then, we’ll travel across the pond to Leeds, England and look into a claim that either a monster or someone who was just monstrous moved into a row house right after its tenants moved out in the 1940s, and began harassing the neighbors. Lynze also gives us two tales from opposite sides of the world. Her first story is about a  seance gone wrong. But let's be honest: when do they ever go "right"? Then, a very freaky and bizarre tale of a possible alien encounter in Australia!

Hang with us this week for a slower paced show. Dan is sick and was battling through to make sure we don't miss a show! Crazy, 255 shows and never missed an episode! Thank you for your support!

In this twelfth installment of fictional horror written and narrated by Dan Cummins.... we meet Duane Spickelmire. Maybe not the coolest guy you'll ever meet, but, certainly not someone who deserves the terrible brand of at-home care Nurse Lucy is giving him...

Dan had two killer tales to share this week! He starts with a supposed encounter with what might be the creepiest kind of man: a paranormal pedophile. Then, in his second story, Dan really gets Lynze worked up when he shares the story of the Jamison Family Disappearance.  Lynze shares three strange tales. Her first is a classic ouija board tale. Then she shares the story of two brothers who piss off a recently deceased man. Lastly, she takes us to Cambodia for the tale of an Ahp!

Dan has one big tale for us this week. A story based in fictional internet horror lore, but the person who posted it CLAIMS that this lore has come to life somehow. The strange liminal world of the Backrooms. We’ve talked about the concept of the multiverse and/or parallel dimensions several times. Could the creepy world of the Backrooms be next to ours? Can you end up there? Can you end up stuck there? Then Lynze has two spoopy tales that are a bit more heady. Her first will ask you to examine if you believe that the supernatural could save you from the horrors of this world. Then, three police officers have a shared experience that none of them can explain. Was it supernatural? Men in black? You decide.
