Brian Walton of thecardinalnation.com has some different takes on the proposals lofted by MLB in recent weeks. We also get into the possibility of MLB expansion in the coming years? Which cities could get a team?

  • Ben Fred Friday – April 10, 2020
Will all sports come back at once? Will we see MLB first or a different one first? Ben says the NHL and NBA are under more pressure since they’re trying to finish a season and postseason revenues are so high. NHL salary cap is also directly correlated to how much they make the previous season. Returning non-contact sports may be less frowned upon than sports like football, wrestling, etc. Too, as far as quarantining teams, Ben says to look at this from the players eyes. Are they willing to give up seeing their families and homes for months on end? We tunnel into more questions regarding the AZ bio-dome idea lofted by MLB this week. Fans or not, dugouts and more.
Head football coach, Mike Gundy, at OK State made an ear-catching quote this week. Ben Fred gives his take on it. Is Darwinism part of his angle? Or is it only about the money? Ben’s take is that these NCAA coaches and programs should use their platforms for good instead.
Some confusion may surround Hasahn French and others college basketball players declaring for the draft. We clear up the newer rules allowing their return for college eligibility next season.
And finally, it’s on. We talk MU vs. KU border war and more: Listen here:

  • Derrick Goold – April 9, 2020
We catch up with Derrick Goold under much different circumstances than last time we chatted. How has the stoppage been for him and what is he working on to report on sports? He's had some great stories in recent weeks about athletes and programs that we might not hear about in normal times. He's pulling on history, personal interest and more. Does he think the Cardinals play this year? Why or why not? His opinion on playing without fans is different than mine. Listen here:

Today we talk to Bill Dewitt Jr. as he gets settled in for his 25th year in charge of the Cardinals franchise. On what should have been opening day in St. Louis, we have a lot to talk about regarding this year's (potential) season. Listen here as we visit with him from Jupiter, FL.

  • Ben Fred Friday – April 3, 2020
We talk to Ben Frederickson this morning about John Mozeliak’s press conference yesterday. Ben’s take- not nearly as many answers as Mo wants right now. Baseball is making incredibly difficult decisions right now because they have to. Normally, MLB is meticulous is their planning so not having clear calendar is especially trying. We dive into the human aspect of it too. Can Kim go back to South Korea to see his wife and kids?

We switch gears to hockey and discuss a potential playoff format and Pietrangelo’s future... Ben thinks this dent in the NHL’s wallet will be a detriment to him.

A disappointment for the Illini and teams across college this spring. How did Coach Underwood team take the news that March Madness was cancelled? How does it affect next season?

Could college football be the next to get cut? How will colleges survive losing the income of NCAA football? Listen here:
