SCREAM with Ryan C. Showers

Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega will not reprise their roles of Sam and Tara Carpenter in "Scream 7." Barrera was let go of the project due to her comments about the Israel/Palestine conflict, according to the studio. Ortega bowed out of her obligations due to scheduling conflicts for "Wednesday" season two. Variety reported "Scream 7" is being re-written for a focus on the legacy storyline of Sidney Presott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Mark Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey). Some fans are threatening a boycott of "Scream 7" if it is not canceled in solidarity with Barrera's political stance. This week, Ryan performs the podcast solo to discuss the current events, the experience of the news last week, and the future of Scream.

The sixth film featured the most returning survivor leading characters in the franchise history – Sam, Tara, Gale, Kirby, Chad, and Mindy. Yet, none were killed off in the story, despite most of them being given a fake-out "death scene." Ryan is joined by a panel of Patreons who each share their points of view.
