When it comes to building a personal brand, are you looking to love the brand…or to ‘love the skin you’re in’? That’s exactly what we will cover in this week’s podcast episode, interviewing a pharmacist who took her unique passion, merged them with her unique skills, used them to serve her audience, and in turn created company from ground zero that is now doing over $10K sales—A DAY.

Allyson Brennan is a pharmacist with 13 years’ experience specializing in Neurology and is now a hospital Clinical Pharmacy Manager in Nashville, TN. She received a B.S. in Psychology minor in chemistry/biology as an undergraduate from Millsaps College and then went on to receive her B.S in Pharmaceutical Sciences and her PharmD. from The University of Mississippi.

This year, Allyson founded and created her own natural skincare company called Emogene & Co. focusing on effective natural skincare and the science behind purposeful ingredients. She created this company after noticing the skincare industry producing products full of toxic and ineffective filler ingredients. As a child, she was inspired by her grandmother, Emogene, who had a remedy for every skin issue or ailment.

Throughout her professional career as a pharmacist, she noticed how she was drawn to medicinal chemistry and how specific molecules affected organs in the body. After becoming a mother, she began to focus on what molecules are available straight from the Earth to provide nutrition for our largest organ, our skin.

In less than a year, Allyson has grown her company organically, filled over 5,000 individual orders and is also available in 11 locations including dermatology clinics and medical spas, all while continuing to work full-time in Pharmacy Administration during the day.

Racism is alive and well. Hatred, anger, and injustice seem to be the theme of 2020 that the world can’t seem to escape.

BUT.

What if I told you that you have the most effective weapon to fight the aforementioned atrocities?

The weapon is also one of the most powerful brands anyone can ever encounter, and it goes hand-in-hand with one of the most difficult—yet most freeing—actions you can ever take in your life.

It’s a simpler process to forgive someone when there is mutual reconciliation.

This one question is my secret weapon for being an immunizing pharmacist.

If you’ve ever felt like you lost your passion as a pharmacist, this message is for you.

So many of us get into the pharmacy profession to help patients, are sparked by a personal story either from our own struggles or those of a family member or friend...but then with time, our focus gets shifted towards the demands of the job.

We so badly want to serve our patients and be the go-to “yes” man/woman that we think that putting our OWN health is a sort of necessary self-sacrifice—that’s it’s a dichotomy: either your health suffers to answer the call of duty, or your team/patients’ will.

The war against stress is very real, and no one is immune.

However, when you choose to intentionally make your #selfcare a NON-NEGOTIABLE PRIORITY—your spiritual, mental, physical, and nutritional health—you will optimize your opportunities to connect with your patients when you least expect those opportunities to arise.

That’s what happened to me, and it served not only as a blessing, but a reminder to how essential every patient interaction can be—if you’re in the right space looking for how to dig deeper in your service to your patients.
