Dr. Scripture took part in a conference that featured presentations from old earth and young earth creationists. In the next two programs, issues related to differences of opinion are discussed.
Dr. Scripture addresses questions from listeners: Did nephilim help Noah build the ark? how did racial features come about? Do birds have a diaphragm? The Little Blue Herons (mother and young) in the photo may look "dinosaurlike" but that's where the physiologial similarity ends.
The discovery of a mummified horse (dated using C14 to be 42,000 years old!) has astounded researchers because of its extreme preservation. The significance of the specimen, and evolution vs. creation explanations for the origin and "development" of horses are discussed. (Photo taken from LiveScience.com April 18, 2019)
An amazing mummified horse is discovered in the melting permafrost of Siberia. In the next two programs, Dr. Scripture discusses it's significance, and evolutionary claims about horses.
Dr. Scripture was asked the question, "What is a 'nephesh' creature," and although the word "nephesh" is a commonly occurring term in the Old Testament, and is associated with the life forms God created on days 5 and 6 of creation, he needed to study the term more thoroughly.
In the 1800s Matthew Fontaine Murray read Psalm 8, and putting his faith "to work," he made an important scientific discovery.
In this 3rd program considering Psalm 8, a prayer/song directed to the Creator/Lord, we consider the dramatic difference between the response of a humble heart like David's to the majesty of the One who created him, and that of the arrogant, self reliant and rebellious heart of the unregenerate man. The famous poem written in 1875, "Invictus" by William E Henley, serves as a powerful example of the rebellious human spirit.
As David praises his Creator he is humbled by the fact that such an awesome God has even a thought about him let alone CARES for him. It's an interesting question to ponder--how does a person respond to the Almighty when confronted with His display of power in the heavens? Humbly as did David or defiantly as did the author of the famous poem, Invictus.
Psalm 8 is totally addressed to the Lord (making it a prayer as well as a song), and David's thoughts are directed specifically to the Creator. This is the first of several programs on Psalm 8, a prayer addressed to the Creator.
Job is speaking to the One who formed him from the dust of the ground. In his lament we can see that he was aware of what is recorded in Genesis 2:7.
