It is comfort. It is the true source of joy, of hope, of peace. The Word of God is not just a holy, you know, canon of scriptures, it is a roadmap. It's where we draw our identity from. It is the place of comfort and solace. It's where we can sit at the feet of Jesus, and just feel held and strengthened from God's hand. It's just this incredible...I think I never saw the Word of God like I see it now. It was definitely a sword when I needed it to be a sword when I was fighting and overcoming and, you know, facing a lot of battles but man, it has been this incredible source. This river of comfort for me.

Her Theatre Company, EMG Education has performed special assemblies on topics such as Mental Health, Anti-Black Racism, and Bullying in over 190 High Schools across Ontario, impacting over 85,000 students and counting. CBC Canada has recognized her as one of 150 Women who are making Canada a better place and she is also the 2017 recipient of the Harry Jerome Award for Social Advocacy.

Cheryl is currently the Executive Director of the Women Speakers Collective, focused on unsilencing, amplifying and empowering the voices of Women across the globe. She is also the author of an interactive journal for teen girls entitled 'Brave: This Is Us'.

So, what if people when they encountered us, they found not this kind of burdensome, like drudgery, but they found life. They found people asking the question every day: Okay, Spirit of God what are you calling me to do to care for God's world today? I think if people just ask that question every day, it'll probably change. It'll probably...it might start with, let's use ceramic mugs instead of disposables. But I dare say it won't end there.

The Holy Spirit is our teacher. I think there is a certain comfort we have to have with not understanding everything and that's okay. That's where faith comes in but I think having people who can walk with you through the Bible, especially when you're starting is super important. But I would just say there's so many ways to do it and stop condemning ourselves for not doing it enough, doing it perfectly, you know, understanding it enough...just the freedom to just be an explorer and, you know, just be a learner, even if you don't understand it, just keep putting it into you. I really do believe the Bible... it says it's sharper than a two-edged sword, that it brings life to us, and I think there's truth about that, that we need to return to because it's just really easy to leave it behind. And then we're thinking things that aren't anything near how God thinks about things, which is completely opposite to how you would naturally think...I think 100%, completely opposite. So yeah, renew our minds. We need to do it.

And you don't come to Scripture as something to mine as a...it's not a vein of coal that we can take and make something with. It's not a resource in that sense. It's something we can use for making or creating something to make to our advantage. It is something to be loved, cherished, adored, and nurtured. If we love it, we'll come to know it. And if we do that work in that order, I think the knowledge, the love knowledge that we get from that will really help us be a witness to the very whoness of who God is. And there's two books to pay attention to. There's the book of Scripture, and there's the book of nature. God wrote them both and if we love them, we're gonna get to the whoness of God. And out of that we can become a light in a dark world.

It's amazing how the Bible just opened. Philippians 4...I mean of all passages. You could not find a better passage. No, you couldn't. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God and the peace of God will guard your heart and mind. And then it goes on. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. And that was so powerful and completely shifted. And I also learned because of the experience I had had the day before, that when you pass on because I was...they told me I was pretty much near death, and it would have been fine. I was so...when you pass on in the Lord there is nothing to fear and when you do not fear death, you don't fear life. You know, it's just, it's the maximum that it is transformative.
