Ever noticed how you feel when someone gives your their complete attention? In this episode, I share how giving others that same gift can make a difference in their life...and in yours. I outline steps that can help you make more meaningful connections with others.
We'll talk about the art of engagement, from active listening to putting our phones away, and how these simple gestures can deepen our interactions at any time, whether it's with family, or at work.
I also talk about the ONE thing in desserts that I just CAN'T STAND. And maybe you'll agree (and even if you don't, we can still be friends).
And this is the last episode of 2023, so I wish you a fab holiday season (and a cheers to those working during this time - I see you, hospitality folks!)
Looking forward to reconnecting in the new year. Blessings to you all.

Have you ever been accused of being 'too nice?' Perhaps you've grappled with the fear of losing people's validation, or felt a constant need to perform for others? On this episode, I pull back the curtain on the 'nice guy' syndrome, a concept popularized by Dr. Robert Glover. Sharing from our personal experiences, I delve into the hidden darkness of this seemingly benign persona - the dishonesty, manipulation, and repressed anger that can surprisingly breed resentment.
I then share the counterpoint to this - the good man. Unlike the 'nice guy,' a 'good man' doesn't seek validation from others but operates from a place of self-acceptance, sets boundaries, and acts with integrity. I share some tips on how to step away from the nice guy and into the integrated, healthy man.
I also share how support and accountability from fellow men have helped men break free from old patterns. So if you're ready to break free from societal expectations, tune in for an engaging discussion on transforming from 'nice' to 'good.' This is an important episode that needs to be shared with the men in your life.

What if I told you that the world isn't just black and white, but a myriad of shades in between? Binary thinking can sour relationships and lead to frustration, and keep you trapped in negativity.
Grab your headphones and join us as I debunk the all-or-nothing mindset. In this episode, I'll share advice on how to break out of this pattern, emphasizing the importance of seeing things from others' points of view.
And all this insight stemmed from a simple tomato salad. 🤯
I discuss the importance of simplicity and compromise, showing how ditching the all-or-nothing mentality can lead to success. Pour yourself a warm drink and settle in for an episode that promises to serve a platter of thoughtful lessons and wisdom (as usual! ha ha!)

When was the last time you truly appreciated the humbling beauty of the desert or the majestic flight of a hawk, and pondered over its spiritual significance? Ever wondered how these seemingly simple experiences could open doors to profound self-discovery and personal growth? Join me as I share intriguing tales from my recent Arizona trip, exploring not just the desert landscape but an introspective journey that has shaped my perspective on humility.
I also share small stories from a restaurant I worked at that also doubled as a filming locationand introduced me to the stark contrast in celebrity behaviors - from Mariah Carey's notorious antics to Billy Ray Cyrus’s down-to-earth demeanor. These experiences stirred a deep realization about the power of humility. What does it mean to be truly humble? It’s not just about being meek; it's about balancing assertiveness with openness, acknowledging your worth without overshadowing others, and understanding that pride and being prideful are not the same.
In the pursuit of personal growth, humility is your most loyal companion. It teaches us valuable lessons about gratitude, the importance of listening more than talking, and the courage to accept our mistakes. So, let's peel away the layers of ego, stop worrying about others' perceptions, and learn to embrace humility in our daily lives.

Imagine being a staff member or manager going to eat at the restaurant they work in. How would the other staff treat you? Would they love bomb your table, or would they serve your lunch with a cold dish of side eye?
In this episode, I share with you such a tale, and what that person had to do the next day after they came in for dinner! It's an example of the Law of Cause and Effect, and how it shows up in your life.
I also discuss how to harness the Law of Cause and Effect to your benefit! You'll learn how being mindful and shifting your self-talk from negative to positive can significantly influence your outcomes. I also stress the importance of being aware of the people and environment you surround yourself with.
If you want to grow in your life, and get what it is you want, then you'll want to listen up, because YOU get to create your life, and I'm gonna hand you one big tool that you can keep in your back pocket.

It's intriguing how a simple question can provoke deep thought, and in this episode I ask this very type of question to you. This question has prompted me to contemplate the connections I've built over time, and what this means in how I show up daily. I invite you to do the same.
In this birthday episode (53, bitches) I also share about the vital concept of 'impression of increase.' The act of leaving others in a better state than you found them is a potent principle, not about gaining popularity or expecting returns, but about creating a positive ripple effect. Coupled with the law of cause and effect, these principles form the backbone to a life of purposeful impact.
Let's breathe into the abundance that surrounds us and show appreciation to those who enrich our lives. Together, we can embrace a life of significant impact, growing in our power to leave an imprint on the world.

Addiction SUCKS. We all know this, even those who are afflicted with it. But it's hard to tackle, both as the one who suffers, and the ones who love those who are suffering.
In the latest episode of Seared Stories from the Stove, we address the pervasiveness of addiction and the unique challenges within the hospitality industry, and ways to help cut down, or even eliminate alcohol and drugs from your life.
I also expose how the hard-living culture, shift work, and proximity to alcohol in the hospitality industry could contribute to substance abuse. I examine the stories we create around drinking, the importance of setting clear objectives, and how to dispute these narratives.
Supporting a loved one with an addiction is not easy. This heartfelt conversation includes my personal experiences, tips to support loved ones without blaming oneself, and the significance of focusing on the problem, not the person. We also explore how to set boundaries and the importance of not enabling a loved one's addictive behaviors.
If you're feeling lonely or need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Accidents happen. Especially in a kitchen. But imagine when you get double-whammied in ways that are so unbelievable that it just can't be a coincidence?
