Season 5 premiers with the tragic murder of 9-year-old Christopher Lee Ausherman Jr., who was beaten, raped, and strangled by convicted pedophile murderer Elmer Spencer. This sadistic monster brutally beat the boy and left his battered, nude body in a baseball, 3rd place dugout in Frederick Maryland. Lured to his death with a pack of Pokémon cards, this innocent child's murder prompted lawmakers to change how the state of Maryland sentences its repeat sexual predators to mandatory sentences of life in prison without the possibility for parole. 

This episode also profiles the unsolved cutting homicide of 34-year-old Tameka Mobley who was found with upper body trauma in the 4400 block of Laplata Avenue in the Medfield area of north Baltimore on March 10, 2015.
