 For months, a “dodgy dossier” has been discredited as a product of Kremlin influence operators, written by a former British and sold as opposition research by Fusion GPS to Hillary Clinton’s campaign.  Evidently, the “dodgy” dossier was then used by the Obama administration as the basis for conducting surveillance of Mr. Trump’s campaign. 

Since last spring, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes has been seeking to obtain documents from the Justice Department and FBI that would shed light on the reliance those agencies placed on this fabrication in securing a court order for electronic monitoring of Candidate Trump and his team.  The Congressman was systematically stiffed by both DoJ and the Bureau. 

Until last night.  After the Chairman and House Speaker Paul Ryan threatened Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christophe Wray with criminal contempt of Congress, the requested information has now been promised. 

It’s past time for a full accounting and full accountability.

The ongoing and proliferating anti-regime demonstrations in Iran reflect  the fact that many in that country, especially among its sizeable majority of young people, have had it with the mullahs.

They find particularly infuriating the fact that the so-called Supreme Leader and his cronies have become fabulously wealthy while millions of ordinary Iranians are facing severe privation.  

Consequently, the Trump administration could help fan the flame of internal opposition to the mullahocracy by disseminating what it knows about the offshore bank accounts, investments, and money-laundering operations the Iranian ruling elites use to stash and enlarge their ill-gotten assets.

Incredibly, the Department of Justice is reportedly claiming that they can’t release this data.  If new statutory authority is needed, Congress should promptly provide it.  It’s time to name and shame those Iranians who threaten their own people and ours, alike.

Nearly forty years ago, Sharia-supremacists violently overthrew the Shah of Iran.   Ever since, their regime has explicitly, and relentlessly, sought to bring death to America. 

Barack Obama nonetheless enabled this threat to grow exponentially in his pursuit of one of history’s most strategically reckless policies. First, he spurned the appeals of Iranians who took to the streets in 2009 seeking freedom from the ayatollahs’ tyranny.  Then, his outrageous Obamabomb deal propped up the oppressors who crushed that “Green Movement” by providing diplomatic legitimation, sanctions relief, a $150 billion windfall and a clear path to the acquisition of nuclear weapons, a bit later if not quite soon.

Today, Iranian protesters are once again taking to the streets.  Fortunately for them – and for us, this time Donald Trump is joining their call for regime change.  Now, let’s help them do it.

Unless the Supreme Court intervenes by New Year’s Eve, for the first time in our nation’s history, unelected, unaccountable judges will decide the make-up of the U.S. military – not its Commander-in-Chief.

 

Such judges have ordered the Pentagon to start enlisting transgender individuals on January 1.  They’re unconcerned that such enlistees have a psychological disorder known as gender dysphoria.  Or that each will be eligible for expensive sex-change surgery and/or hormone treatments rendering them unable to be deployed for months at a time. Or that integrating them into showers and barracks is obviously detrimental to good order and discipline. 

 

For such reasons, President Trump has formally directed the armed forces not to bring in new transgender recruits.  He has the exclusive constitutional authority to make that call. So, no transgender enlistments should be finalized until judicial challenges to that authority are resolved.

The Central American nation of Guatemala became the first in the world to announce Sunday it will follow Donald Trump’s lead by relocating its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

 

In contrast with most UN members, the Guatemalan government has surely earned a place of favor with President Trump.  Perhaps his administration will now end the efforts of another U.S. embassy – the one in Guatemala – to engineer the overthrow of President Jimmy Morales and his duly elected administration.

 

Starting under the Obama presidency and for most of Mr. Trump’s first year in office, a career Foreign Service Officer named Todd Robinson  has helped fellow leftists in Guatemala manufacture corruption charges designed to replace the pro-U.S. Morales government with one hostile to us. This must end at once.  So should Amb. Robinson’s pending appointment to run an-even-more-sensitive diplomatic post – our embassy in Venezuela.

Andrew McCabe has reportedly deigned to step down as Deputy Director of the FBI next year after he qualifies for a full pension. He should be relieved of his duties immediately.

 

After all, McCabe has been implicated in acts of egregious partisanship, official corruption and apparent treachery that have brought infamy, not just on himself, but on the FBI.

 

Especially egregious has been his serial misconduct with respect to Hillary Clinton’s malfeasance.  McCabe’s wife garnered $700,000 from Clinton cronies while he and his subordinates were investigating her email scandal.  They used a Clinton political dirty trick – a fraudulent, Russian-sourced “dossier” – to justify wiretaps and an investigation of the Trump campaign.  And they appear to have plotted to destroy the Trump presidency.

 

If we are to be spared such travesties in the future, an example needs to be made of Andrew McCabe.  Now.

After Donald Trump’s legislative victory on tax reform this week, Democrats seem to be redoubling their effort to secure what amounts to a do-over of the 2016 presidential campaign.  Practically speaking, that’s the goal of their fraudulent “dossier”-inspired effort to conjur up “collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russian influence operations, that’s now doing business as Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation.

 

Lately, Democratic talking points claim the GOP is intent on derailing that inquiry, allegedly because the Mueller noose is tightening on the Trump camp.

 

Actually, conservatives are responding entirely appropriately to damning information that suggests real collusion between certain FBI officials and the Clinton campaign. And as to the GOP’s timing, blame Bob Mueller.  Had he not withheld relevant data for months, Mueller’s inquiry would have been proven the nakedly partisan witch-hunt it is long before now.

Today, the United Nations will demonstrate the behavior that has long reduced it to a playpen for totalitarians, tyrants and terrorists. The UN General Assembly will vote overwhelmingly to condemn President Trump’s decision to recognize that Israel’s capital is Jerusalem, relocating our embassy there.

 

As Amb. Nikki Haley declared in vetoing a similar condemnation in the Security Council, this was a sovereign U.S. decision. Its critics nonetheless seek to induce as many nations as possible to demonstrate their solidarity with America’s jihadist enemies – and those of the Jewish State.

 

President Trump has rightly signaled that there will be costs for choosing to be against us, rather than with us. He should start with the Palestinian Authority, which has over the years, received billions in U.S. taxpayer-underwritten aid. Ditto the UN and especially its corrupt welfare agency that enables the Palestinian victimhood narrative.

For the second time in recent weeks, Iranian proxies have launched a ballistic missile at the capital of Saudi Arabia.  In yesterday’s attack by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, the King’s palace in Riyadh was reportedly the target.

 

Meanwhile, another Iranian proxy, the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah, has been collaborating with drug traffickers in the Western hemisphere to bring tons of cocaine into the United States – which amounts to a lethal attack targeting the American people.

 

The two have in common something besides Iranian involvement. They have been enabled by the Obama administration’s reckless legitimating, enriching and emboldening of the mullahs in Tehran. 

 

President Obama’s transfer of $150 billion to Iran and his reported subordination of shutting down Hezbollah’s drug-trafficking to completing a deal that ensures the Iranian regime gets nuclear weapons has brought us to the brink of war.
