Prayer in Uncertainty

Oh, Lord God, you alone are my hope. I place my confidence in you. My present state is uncertain, and this uncertainty weighs upon me. I look for words of encouragement, but I fear news I do not wish to hear.

May your presence in my heart take away all tension and mistrust. Anxiety is part of everyone’s life, and now I must cope with my share. Lord, it is not easy to spend minutes, hours, even days not knowing the outcome.

Come to me, I beg of you and reassure me again of your love. When I am uneasy, I view life with a limited vision. May the light of faith help me to see more clearly and trust in you. Amen

In this episode Jesus talks about the mustard seed as the smallest of all seeds, and yet, when it grows, it is the largest of plants.  Many see this as a metaphor of how the Gospel spread from a tiny region to all the world. What if Jesus also meant this parable for us individually?
