Change is inevitable. Growth is a choice.
As we cruise into a new season, it’s the perfect time to look at the shifting landscapes in our own lives. In this episode of Selective Hearing, we are talking about a hard truth: "Change is inevitable, but growth is a choice".
As we move into a new season, Julie reflects on the changes happening not only around us, but within us. In this episode of Selective Hearing, she explores what it means to surrender to the seasons of life instead of constantly fighting against what we cannot control.
Using the powerful analogy of a river and a rip current, Julie talks about learning when to swim parallel, when to float, and when to trust the current enough to carry you toward new ground. Sometimes the season feels messy, exhausting, or completely unfamiliar but that doesn’t mean something has gone wrong. Sometimes the chaos is clearing space for what comes next.
Julie challenges you to ask yourself: What season am I in right now, and am I truly willing to flow with it?
In this episode, you’ll learn:
Whether you're experiencing burnout, healing from loss, navigating a major life transition, or simply trying to figure out your next step, this episode offers a reminder that you don't have to fight every current. Sometimes surrender is what allows you to find your footing.
Tune out the noise. Tune into peace.

What if slowing down isn’t a setback—but part of the process?
In this episode of Selective Hearing, Julie Dammar gets real about a season of stillness, surrender, and slow healing. She shares what it looked like to stop confusing movement with progress and begin trusting God with the outcome.
Stillness, Julie reminds us, doesn’t necessarily mean doing nothing. Sometimes it looks like praying, journaling, fasting, serving, studying, mending relationships, and simply taking the time to ask, “God, is this what I’m supposed to be doing?”y.
This episode is an invitation to pause and ask yourself:
Where are you moving just because you’re used to moving? Where might you be confusing movement with progress? Where might God be asking you to slow down, surrender, or simply listen?
Healing and transformation aren’t always visible. Sometimes the greatest changes are happening quietly within us—softening our hearts, shifting our perspectives, changing our choices, and preparing us for what comes next.
Slow healing is still healing. Stillness is not stagnation. And sometimes listening is the next move.
Tune out the noise. Tune into peace.

I'm back, and this time, I'm starting from a different place.
After stepping away from Selective Hearing and taking time to rededicate my life to Christ, I've had the opportunity to look back at where this podcast began, the seeds that were planted long before I understood what they meant, and the ways God has brought so many things full circle.
In this first episode of the new season, I'm taking you behind the scenes to share the story of where Selective Hearing started, why I stepped away, the small changes and wins that began to change me, and what this next chapter means for the show and for me.
We'll also talk about what's coming next: new interviews, solo conversations, the Selective Hearing blog, YouTube, social media, resources, and some special upcoming conversations with Brushfire Ministries.
But more than anything, this episode is about what Selective Hearing means to me now.
Sometimes starting over isn't going backward.
Sometimes you have to get back at one.
Welcome back to Selective Hearing.
Tune out the noise. Tune into peace.
