When Jennifer Teague went missing after working her late-night shift at a local Wendy’s in the Ottawa area community of Barrhaven, no one could have possibly predicted what kind of horrific fate she had met. It left the quiet and safe family-filled neighborhood on high alert - terrified that there was a predator on the loose. And there was. A very sick man who took his rage and frustration out on a young 18-year-old woman who had her whole life ahead of her.

Randy Stair, who went by the name Andrew Blaze online, was a YouTuber with a fairly big audience. His channel started out funny and entertaining, but his subscribers would watch him take a steep decline in his mental health and his grasp on reality. It was clear he was struggling as he talked about his idolization of the Columbine shooters and his obsession/fascination/love and desire to be with a cartoon character. And then he would go on to document his plan to commit mass murder. He was practically begging for someone to stop him, but strangely enough, his subscribers didn’t do anything to help or maybe even try to prevent that massacre that was about to happen. I’m covering this case as a warning or lesson that we really need to take people at their weird when they say they’re struggling. This is the story behind the Eaton Township Weis Markets shooting.

This is the unsolved disappearance and likely murder of Cindy Song, who went missing on Halloween night, in 2001. She was last seen dressed in her bunny costume after coming home from a fun Halloween party she enjoyed with a couple of her friends. There have been a lot of twists and turns in this story as police followed different directions they believed would lead to Cindy, but to this day she has never been found and we still have no idea what happened to her that fateful night.

Yoshihiro Hattori was a teenage boy from Japan living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as part of a student exchange program. He was getting ready to enjoy his first-ever American Halloween when he was shot by someone claiming to mistake him for an intruder. This is a huge tragedy that didn’t need to happen and really demonstrates the stark contrast between the way Americans look at gun ownership versus those living in Japan. We are coming up on the 29th anniversary of when this murder happened and unfortunately, not much has changed.

Grace Sherwood, also known as the Witch of Pungo, was accused of killing livestock, bewitching married men and transforming them into animals. Grace denied being a witch, but there was pretty much no way a woman at the time could prove otherwise. Her community thought they could make the final determination through an act known as “ducking”, which would kill most women who had gone through the ritual before. But by some miracle, Grace survived, which should have proved to everyone that she wasn’t a witch after all. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be so simple.

On April 1st, 2008 Skye Lynn Budnick took a one-way flight to Japan. She was just 21 years old, she didn’t tell anyone she was planning to take this trip and she hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Gosch became one of the first children to be featured on milk cartons in 1982 after he went missing during one of his routine paper routes in Des Moines, Iowa.
