Among many Aboriginal groups, it is considered highly taboo to speak the name or display likenesses of a deceased person. In some traditions, they may even temporarily rename things that share the deceased person's name to avoid speaking it. These warnings serve as a standard default, but taboos are not universal. In some cases, the family of the deceased may provide explicit permission for the name, voice, or image to be used to honor and remember their legacy.
