Chilling disappearances that may leave you lying awake wondering how they ever vanished at all. But perhaps you can help solve a mystery. 

1. Foul Play (Zebb Wayne Quinn) - UPDATE: In 2017, a Buncombe County grand jury charged Robert Jason Owens with first-degree murder for the death of Quinn. On July 25, 2022, Owens pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of accessory after-the-fact to first-degree murder. 
2. Like Mother Like Daughter (Annette Sagers & Korrina Malinoski) - On Oct. 4, 1988, 11-year-old Annette was last seen standing at a bus stop near her home in Mount Holly, SC. and has not been seen or heard from in over 30 years. Neither has her mother, Korrina, who disappeared approximately eleven months prior. Call: 843-719-4465.
3. Treacherous Hike (Jared Michael Negrete) - On June 11, 1991, 12-year-old Jared went missing while on a camping trip with his Boy Scout troop in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California. Jared was last seen leaving his tent to use the restroom, but he never returned and has never been found. Call: 909-387-3690.
4. Quiet Escape (Asha Jaquilla Degree) - On Feb. 14, 2000, nine-year-old Asha went missing from her home in Shelby, North Carolina. She was last seen by her parents in the early morning hours of Valentine's Day, sleeping in her bed. Call: 704-484-4822.
5. Footprints (Michael Negrete) - On Dec. 10, 1999, 19-year-old Michael, a freshman at UCLA, went missing. He was last seen at his dormitory, Hitch Suites, on the UCLA campus. The 2nd episode of CSI Season 2, episode "Chaos Theory" seems to be based on Negrete's case. Call: 310-825-1491.

►10 Innocent People Sentenced to DEATH (TT #18):
10. Ruben Cantu - convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of a man during a robbery in San Antonio, TX in 1984. He was executed in 1993 at the age of 26. In 2005, a thorough investigation by the Texas district court found that Cantu was actually innocent and that his trial was riddled with errors.
9. Leonel Herrera - convicted of the murder of two police officers in Texas in 1981 murder based largely on the testimony of a co-defendant who received a reduced sentence in exchange for his testimony against Herrera. Despite appeals and public outcry, Herrera was executed in 1993 before new evidence emerged supporting his innocence, including a confession by Johnny Paul Penry to a fellow inmate.
8. David Spence - convicted and sentenced to death for the brutal murder of three teenagers near Lake Waco, TX in 1982, based largely on the testimony of co-defendants who later recanted their testimony. He was executed in 1997, but questions about his guilt remain and his case is still under review.
7. Leo James - convicted and sentenced to death for the sniper killing of a police officer in Jacksonville, FL in 1991, based largely on the testimony of an eyewitness who later recanted and forensic evidence that was later discredited. He was exonerated in 1999 after spending 7 years on death row.
6. Larry Griffin - convicted and sentenced to death by lethal injection for a Missouri drive-by shooting in 1980 based largely on the testimony of a single eyewitness who later recanted. He was executed in 1995 despite continued protests from his family and supporters.
5. Ellis Wayne Felker - convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of a convenience store clerk named Wilbur Cleveland Jr. in Augusta, GA in 1981 based largely on the testimony of a co-defendant who later recanted his testimony. He was executed in 1996 despite doubts about his guilt and concerns about the fairness of his trial.
4. Lena Baker - convicted and sentenced to death for the 1945 murder of her employer, a white man named Ernest Knight, after a trial that was marred by racism, an unfair legal system, and a lack of adequate defense counsel. She was posthumously pardoned in 2005, but her case highlights the injustices faced by black women in the US criminal justice system.
3. Carlos DeLuna - convicted of the stabbing death of a woman named Wanda Lopez in Corpus Christi, TX in 1983, He was sentenced to death and executed by lethal injection in 1989, but a re-investigation of the case in 2012 revealed that DeLuna was likely innocent.
2. Cameron Todd Willingham - convicted of setting a fire that killed his three young daughters in their Texas home in 1991. Willingham was sentenced to death in 1992 and was executed by lethal injection in 2004. Numerous experts in fire science have since concluded that the fire was not intentionally set, but instead was likely caused by faulty wiring.
1. Jesse Tafero - convicted and executed for the murder of two Florida highway patrol officers in 1976, based largely on the testimony of a co-defendant who later recanted and the testimony of a jailhouse informant. His execution in 1990 was one of the most controversial in modern US

Punishment is given a whole different meaning when it comes to devices of torture and death...

• 14. Waterboarding: Involves simulating drowning by pouring water over a cloth covering the victim's face, leading to a sensation of suffocation.
• 13. Syrian Box Torture (Coffin Torture): Victims were placed inside a small, cramped metal or wooden cage, often shaped like a human form. The cage was then hung or suspended, and the victim would be left there for prolonged periods, often resulting in severe discomfort, suffocation, or death.
• 12. White torture: This form of psychological torture focuses on sensory deprivation, isolation, and psychological manipulation. Victims are confined to a completely white room, with white lighting, white clothing, and minimal stimuli, aiming to induce disorientation, anxiety, and a loss of sense of time.
• 11. Tiger Bench: The victim is made to sit on a long, narrow bench with their legs extended forward. Wooden planks or bricks are placed under their feet, and their ankles are tightly bound to prevent movement. Additional weights or pressure may be applied to increase the pain and discomfort.
• 10. Tub Torture: The victim would be placed inside a wooden barrel or tub with their limbs folded and tightly bound. The tub would then be secured and rolled or rotated, causing the victim's body to be contorted and subjected to extreme discomfort and pain.
• 9. The See-Saw of Death: Victims were hung upside down, and a large saw was used to cut them in half from the groin.
• 8. The Four Horsemen: Severing the limbs at the joints by tying each arm and leg to a separate horse and pulling them apart in opposite directions.
• 7. The Pear of Anguish: A pear-shaped instrument inserted into body cavities and then expanded, causing internal damage.
• 6. Concrete Shoes (Chicago overcoat): Involved placing the victim's feet into buckets or containers filled with wet cement, then they'd be thrown into a body of water, such as a river or ocean, causing their demise.
• 5. The Rack: A device designed to stretch the victim's body, dislocating joints and causing immense pain.
• 4. The Heretic's Fork: A double-ended metal fork worn around the neck, with each end pointed upward. It was used to keep the victim awake and prevent them from speaking.
• 3. The Iron Chair: A chair with spikes on the back, seat, and armrests, piercing the victim when seated.
• 2. The Tucker Telephone: It was an electrical device consisting of a crank handle, a telephone receiver, and electrodes. The electrodes would be attached to the victim's body, usually in sensitive areas, and then an electric shock would be administered through the device.
• 1. Crucifixion: A method of execution in which the victim would be nailed or tied to a wooden cross and left to hang until death. Crucifixion was a slow and agonizing process that caused asphyxiation, pain, and eventual organ failure.

In this episode, Rob discusses American serial killer, James Dale Ritchie. Throughout 2016, Ritchie murdered upwards of five individuals in and around Anchorage, Alaska, most of whom were in parks or along bike paths. He always committed his murders at night, often around midnight or a short time after.
