In this episode, (part one) Nicky and Sandro sit down with Phil Hendrie to talk skincare myths, questionable beauty practices, and what people are getting very wrong about taking care of their skin.
Phil’s credit are too many to list but: Recurring roles on King of the Hill (voicing characters like Coach Sauers and Big Jim), Rick and Morty (as Principal Vagina), F is for Family, Futurama, and recent appearances in Grey’s Anatomy and Everybody Still Hates Chris. Team America: World Police(voicing I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E.), Semi-Pro, and the 2024 horror-comedy Destroy All Neighbors.
Etc..etc. etc…..
But as the conversation unfolds, things take a turn—blurring the line between education and absurdity.
Somewhere between the laughs, there’s real insight into what works, what doesn’t, and why skincare misinformation is everywhere.
This is Part 1—and it only gets wilder from here.

In this episode, we dive into the buzz around CIRCA 1970, a luxury all-in-one face oil created by Hollywood men’s groomers Barbara Guillaume and Amy Komorowski. Designed to simplify your skincare routine, this 100% natural, gender-neutral oil is built around one standout ingredient: bakuchiol.
Often called the “natural alternative to retinol,” bakuchiol delivers many of the same anti-aging benefits—like smoothing fine lines, boosting collagen, and improving skin tone—without the irritation, redness, or sensitivity that traditional retinol can cause.

Episode 139 of Sex, Drugs, and Skincare brings the laughs and the real talk with comedian Sarah Lawrence. We kick things off diving straight into cystic acne—what it is, why it happens, and how to actually deal with those deep, painful breakouts that feel impossible to ignore.
But as always with Sarah, the conversation doesn’t stay skin-deep for long. What starts as a discussion about inflammation and breakouts naturally evolves into something much deeper—exploring the powerful connection between pain and emotion. From stress and hormonal shifts to the ways our inner world shows up on our skin, we unpack how emotional experiences can manifest physically, often in ways we don’t even realize.
With Sarah’s humor and honesty in the mix, this episode balances education, vulnerability, and plenty of laughs. It’s a reminder that skincare isn’t just about what you put on your face—it’s also about what’s going on beneath the surface.
If you’ve ever struggled with stubborn acne or wondered how your emotional health might be affecting your skin, this episode is for you.

Hi fructose corn syrup
Whoa Nelly! This one is a doozy. Sandro and I talk about the effects of high fructose corn syrup on your skin. You can find high fructose corn syrup in just about anything. We talk about the things where it’s hiding, we talk about other Sugar substitutes…which ones are good and which ones are horrible for you. Stevia, monk fruit, glucose, xylitol, pretty much anything you can think of we delve into. It’s fascinating. We did a lot of research on this and we are really excited to talk about all the reasons that we’re not supposed to eat sugar and most sweeteners, and how depressing that is. Also, It’s funny!
