    ADMIRAL JOE SESTAK
    Former Democratic presidential candidate and three-star Admiral Joe Sestak is an experienced, independent leader who served in the Navy for 31 years. As the highest-ranking military officer ever elected to Congress, Sestak represented Pennsylvania’s 7th congressional district. In 2006, Admiral Joe defeated a ten-term Republican incumbent to win a seat in the US House of Representatives, where he served two terms. In 2010, Rep. Sestak defeated a longtime senator in the Democratic primary. While in Congress, Sestak had a reputation of getting bills passed. In recent years, Sestak has led a nonprofit that promotes science education. Joe Sestak also has a Ph.D. He is one of the latest high-profile people to join the Forward Party, an emerging third party.

    Iuliia Mendel is a Ukrainian journalist who served as press secretary and spokesperson for the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, from 2019 until 2021. Mendel offers a peek behind the curtain in her new memoir, THE FIGHT OF OUR LIVES: My Time with Zelenskyy, Ukraine's Battle for Democracy and What it Means for the World.
    Her extensive journalism experience on television and in print media includes work for The New York Times, Politico Europe, the Atlantic Council, VICE, World Affairs and Der Spiegel. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, she has contributed to The Washington Post and has appeared on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News - reporting from Ukraine. Iuliia lives in Kyiv, Ukraine, with her husband, Pavlo Kukhta. 
    When Ukrainian journalist Iuliia Mendel got the call she had been hired to work for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, she had no idea what was to come.
    Daniel Hamilton is a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution’s Center on the United States and Europe, president of the Transatlantic Leadership Network and co-leads “The United States, Europe and World Order” postdoctoral program at the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where he has served as the Richard von Weizsäcker Professor (2003-12), the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation Professor (2013-20) and is a senior fellow in the school’s Foreign Policy Institute. Hamilton was the founding director of the SAIS Center for Transatlantic Relations and for 15 years served as executive director of the American Consortium on European Union Studies.

    Ruth Milkman is a sociologist of labor and labor movements who has written on a variety of topics involving work and organized labor in the United States, past and present.
    Milkman's most recent books are IMMIGRANT LABOR AND THE NEW PRECARIAT (Polity, 2020) and ON GENDER, LABOR, AND INEQUALITY (Illinois, 2016). Her early research focused on the impact on U.S. women workers of economic crisis and war in the 1930s and 1940s.
    After 21 years as a sociology professor at UCLA, where she directed the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment from 2001 to 2008, Ruth returned to New York City in 2010. Milkman is currently Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the CUNY Graduate Center and at the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies, where she chairs the Labor Studies Department.

    Meagan Flynn covers the DC, Maryland and Virginia congressional delegations on The Washington Post's Metro desk. Flynn was previously a reporter at the Houston Press and briefly at the Houston Chronicle, where she covered criminal justice and public policy.
    Meagan started at The Post in 2018 as a Morning Mix reporter. She earned a BAJMC in magazine journalism from Drake University, and a BA in writing.
    Noah Wills is the organizer of The DC Statehood Pledge and The DC Statehood Compact.
    Wills is the former leader of Students for DC Statehood, an organization focused on mobilizing college and high school students. The group's main goal is to get students to buy into the idea of DC statehood while they’re living in the District of Columbia for college, and before they move away from the D-M-V.
    A native of Pennsylvania, he graduated in 2018 from American University with a major in Law and Society and a minor in Political Science.
