In this episode of The Book Fix, Yajaira and Cheli take a break from book reviews to dive headfirst into the absurd tier list of different ways women have died in old literature. From “flirting headaches” to “garden troubles” and the infamous “beautiful chestnut hair,” the girls try to make sense of these ridiculous causes of death, rating them from most to least believable. Along the way, they share personal stories (including a traumatic ice cream incident), roast historical misogyny, and debate the dangers of having too many pillows. This episode is equal parts social commentary and unhinged fun—and somehow still ends with a sincere PSA about hand warmers and avoiding the River of Unhappiness.
