Last week Oliver Anthony became a star. His song, “Rich Men North of Richmond” became the number 1 song on iTunes. As of this morning, the video has been viewed 9 million times. That’s up from 6 million when I watched it yesterday.

Oliver was a factory worker until a year ago. Choosing to pursue a carrier in music rather than slave away on the factory floor.

His song speaks to the plight of the “working man” in America today. His grievances are not new. But he’s tapped into a new generation of people who feel as though they’ve been lied to.

Is the American dream dead? Is our government really keeping the little guy down?
