Narratives are something we unfortunately have very little control of. So, how do we handle them? This week Jasmine and Shon talk about how they have contributed to some negative narratives and how they’ve negatively placed them on others and learned from it. One narrative that we desire clarity on is the approach of black history and culture in the biracial community. Jasmine takes the time to explain her challenges and identity growing up and learning about her black culture in a white environment.

As we celebrate Black History Month, Jasmine and Shon discuss the challenges in educating themselves and others on the respect of black culture. Along with correcting the education taught to them, the discussion leads to what their responsibility is in teaching our community and children.

Unpacking any sort of trauma response can be difficult so it’s understandable when we disguise, hide, or ignore it. Tune in as Jasmine and Shon share how they identify and process trauma in their lives.
