Side Work Podcast

You asked for it! Well, a certain, over caffeinated portion of our listener demographic asked for it but we are finally dedicating a few episodes to our brother and sisters of the apron: BARISTAS! Aka, coffee waiters, java tenders, espresso slingers. We invite seasoned barista and funny man Simon Gibson to join our very titillating conversation about origins of the coffee craze and how it demanded full time positions to serve it up with a sneer!!

Has a contagion caused a zombie apocalypse? Nope, it's just a charter bus dropping off forty drunk adult babies at your bar for stop twelve on their crawl. Hide the sharp things, lock the bathroom, serve some weak shots and get them OUT OF THERE. Yup. Today we talk about one of the hazards of our industry: Bar Crawls. Joining us for the misery is fellow funny lady and expert bartender, Sunah Bilsted who has SEEN some stuff during her time slingin drinks.

Today we are trying something different and reviewing a movie about the service industry. We invite Ricky Carmona - server and movie buff to help us dissect the Ryan Reynolds 2005 joint "Waiting" and talk about what it got right, but mostly about EVERYTHING it got wrong.

THE APOCALYPSE IS UPON US. Okay, okay, okay it's just Valentine's Day 2020 and here we are still alive, maybe a bit more weary, maybe dreading working on this day/night of horror but Side Work is here FOR YOU. We of course want to pour some out for our server homies who have to go to war with a sea of amateur two tops tonight but then we explore all of the other disgusting ways this nefarious holiday has ruined other industries. Flowers and chocolate are evil. First time couples massage recipients don't tip. The list goes on and on. Thankfully with your Server Submitted Stories and hilarious guest co-host MK Paulsen - "a gay" - in his own words, we hope to inject some needed laughter into this notoriously terrible service day. God Speed and Good Tips! We LOVE you.

Rat chat! Paper eating! What f*ckin' cake?!?! It's a new episode of Side Work! Today we have comedian and writer Maggie Maye join us mainly to shut down our dreams of talking about "southern hospitality" when she immediately corrects us that Texas (where she's from) is not the South. We do our best to discuss food, vibes, and service industry skills anyhow and have a ton of fun. Your Server Submitted Stories are top shelf as always, so keep submitting!
