L'Express, a French magazine has published a rare interview, and his first since the start of Russia’s war against Ukraine. He has made no public comments on the war ravaging state that neighbors the dictatorships in Russia and Belarus. L'Express anticipates the storm of controversy of interviewing such a controversial figure, and one who can also be said to be the architecture of Russia’s genocidal plans towards Ukraine. They justify it by saying this is a unique way to get inside Vladimir Putin's head. Perhaps they are not wrong. Sourkov is the shadowy adviser who inspired novelist Giuliano da Empoli to write The Wizard of the Kremlin. And he can be considered the 'architect' of the Russian political system but who has distanced himself from the man he served for two decades, Vladimir Putin.
