Trump has loudly claimed that the whole world is “kissing his ass” because of the tariff terror he has threatened to unleash on the world.Trump now has China squarely in his sights, for the highest tariffs, but does he expect China will come more compliant and cooperative? The evidence so far suggests not. Where does the impulse come from to force leaders from around the world to know-tow to America, to “kiss Trump’s ass” as he gleefully proclaimed in his speech earlier this week. It’s certainly from rational geopolitics or diplomacy, or sound economics. More likely, it’s Trump’s own demons and insecurities that are summoning this global trade war into existence, and risking a global financial meltdown, recession and economic depression even.
