Land-Grant Holy Land’s newest podcast, ‘Bucketheads’ takes you on a journey across the college basketball landscape every episode. The only basketball-focused podcast in the LGHL family of podcasts, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world.

During this week’s episode, Connor and Justin recap some of the things we learned from Ohio State’s media day last week, including injury updates and the progression of some of the younger players.

They also talk about Ohio State’s opponent for this year’s “secret” scrimmage, which is not —and is never — actually a secret. The guys also discuss why the Buckeye Nuthouse selling out student tickets in one hour is such a remarkable feat.

Finally, Connor closes with a raunchy and slightly concerning story about former Utah and St. Louis head coach Rick Majerus, who was... well... not shy about his body, we can say.

On this episode, Matt is in conversation with one of the most insightful and interesting voices in college football, Secret Base’s Steven Godfrey. Earlier this month, Steven released a Secret Base video rewinding Ohio State’s victory in the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship Game. He goes into the outside factors that led to the game being far more important than who got to hoist the trophy as confetti rained down. He discusses the ups and downs of the Buckeye’s 2014 season and focuses in on Ezekiel Elliott’s 85 yards through the heart of the south.

They also talk about the comparisons between the 2014 and 2021 OSU teams, what this season’s Buckeyes are capable, and much more.

On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined, as always, by Jordan Williams to discuss our feelings about the first half of the Buckeyes’ season.

We start the show getting into some conversations about our biggest takeaways from the first half of the season including the defense, the offense, and the national landscape. We then discuss how this might effect the second half of the season and what to expect from the Buckeyes as we get into a gauntlet of a second half schedule.

Moving forward we then get into our midseason player awards and discuss how these players have impacted the team in ways that have earned out accolades. The awards include MVP, Biggest Surprise, and a few others. This leads to some conversations about some other players that were considered as well, so a lot of people were kind of honored.

To continue on, we get into our positional grades which was harder than it looked and as we take on the role of professor, we just want all our students to succeed. We agreed on some, we disagreed on many, but it was mostly because we had different grading scales.

We close out the show with our keys to a successful second half for Ohio State and what we’re going to be doing in this weekend off.

Things are a bit different this week, as there is no Ohio State game to preview. Because Ohio State is certainly back in the College Football Playoff conversation — especially with the wild weekend of college football we just had (down with Bama!). 

Of course, the football season is a marathon, not a sprint, and there’s another half of the regular season to go. Speaking of marathons, the Chicago Marathon and Boston Marathon happened this past Sunday and Monday, so kudos to the thousands of runners who finished (including Shalane Flanagan, who ran both!).

Is this the greatest Big Ten season ever? Maybe, maybe not but it is one of the most exciting in recent memory. There are five legitimate contenders for the throne and this weekend the first domino fell. After Sean Clifford exited the game due to injury Iowa mounted a comeback and won a top five match up. Michigan beats Nebraska in a instant classic that goes down to the final minute, while Michigan State and Ohio State continue to dominate.

In this episode, Jordan and Dante discuss the implications of Iowa victory of Penn State. While reviewing last weeks games they try and determine who the best team of the top five are. Is Michigan State better then Michigan sense they played better against Rutgers? Has Scott Frost done enough to keep his job? The guys get into all that and more.

In their weekly pit stop, Jordan and Dante talk about the SEC bias and people who don't actually watch the games. Is the SEC actually the best conference or are they overhyped? How does Alabama's success effect everyone else in the country?

Ohio State showed little mercy to Maryland this week in a 66-17 beatdown as the Buckeyes continue to work their way back from the ashes of the Oregon loss. C.J. Stroud has played out of his mind for the last few weeks as the offense looks completely unstoppable, while the defense has make real, tangible changes under Matt Barnes to correct a lot of the issues that ailed them earlier in the year.

Gene and Josh break down what they saw in this weekend’s blowout, including another dominant performance by Stroud and the Ohio State receivers/TreVeyon Henderson as well as their thoughts on why the defense has looked so much better in recent games.

Jordan Williams and Christopher Renne provide an instant recap show to break down the reasons why Ohio State won and what to expect for the Buckeyes moving forward.

They get into a discussion about the offensive explosion for the Buckeyes and how CJ Stroud was pretty much perfect. Ryan Day was in his bag, but the run game took a little to get going.. Then the guys get into the three-headed monster of receivers and what the efficiency means for the Buckeyes moving forward,

Defensively, the guys loved the defensive effort and they get into a discussion about the Buckeyes’ first complete defensive effort on all three levels. The pass rush, finally showed up and the linebackers played well for four quarters. They also kept the streak alive!

Lastly, the guys discuss their players of the game and how this game had a lot of candidates. They get into some of their favorite plays including the Chris Olave touchdowns, the pick six, and a few more.

On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined, as always, by Jordan Williams to discuss Ohio State’s homecoming match up against the Maryland Terrapins.

We get started by discussing some of the early new stories of the week for Ohio State. Matt Barnes has led a defensive evolutions, so we get into his future career outlooks and some new roles for players. We also get into Taulia Tagovailoa coming off his worst performance and what the offense can continue to do to show its improvements.

Moving forward we get into the B1G and their current national standing. We also discuss the current and future pecking order of the B1G East and how the conference would look without divisions. After the break we get into the offense and how dominant has been. We also have only seen it fully click once, so the rest of the country should be horrified.

Lastly, we get into the Maryland Terps including what we should expect from them coming off their worst loss of the season. We talk about their cultural improvement and how much their recruiting has changed under Mike Locksley.

We close out the show with our keys to victory for Ohio State and our score predictions for the game heading into the bye week.
