When I first started getting into fitness, I was excited but had more questions than answers. At the time, I was only about 14 years old, so a personal trainer was not in the cards. Most of the resources I had access to were articles and videos of people who I thought were credible because they were "Jacked.". Spoiler alert just because someone looks like they know what they're doing doesn't mean they do.
Having spent many years training and studying, I've gained a greater understanding of what's good advice compared to what's just great marketing. With the fitness industry growing quite quickly, people of all backgrounds have come into the limelight to share their "knowledge" with you, (This one secret will help you melt body fat, Doctors don't want you to know this one weight loss trick, etc.). While these headlines may be tempting, the reality is getting lasting results requires consistency and accurate information. One of the best ways to get on the right track is to work with an exercise professional. Like any resource, you have to know what to look for. Personal trainers are no different. You have to tell the good from the bad, so you don't end up wasting your time. To save you some of the hassles that come with trial and error, I've put together four of the things I believe every great trainer has.
