Simply By Grace Podcast

Charlie reads through his book Simply By Grace with a special guest interview and discussion time at the end of the podcast.

In this podcast Charlie reads through Chapter 8 - Grace and Good Works. In it he focuses on the difference between grace and works. What are they and how do good works fit into the salvation picture?  Ephesians 2:10 speaks of our purpose in salvation. It says that we are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works... good works come after salvation and are intended to be an outpouring of what Christ has done for us. So, while good works are not a condition for salvation, they are a consequence of salvation. However, they aren't to be used as proof of salvation as good works can vary extensively.

In this podcast Charlie reads through Chapter 7 - Assured by Grace. In this chapter he focuses on a believer's assurance of salvation. Assurance is simply a believer's understanding of their eternal security in Christ.  Without a solid understanding of God's free grace, assurance can be something believers end up struggling with. This can stunt growth and/or lead to works-based salvation. Charlie has a great discussion on this critical topic with Phil Congden, pastor of New Braunfels Bible Church.

How do you practice grace in ministry? What does that look like? When we talk about ministry one should view it as a gift from God, this is how the apostle Paul viewed it. Paul said that his apostleship is a gift of grace from God. it wasn't something he earned, it was a privilege to him. So how do we cultivate this same attitude and put it into practice?
