A great 6 hour escape from a dreary day!

This was a sweet, engaging and at times, laugh out loud funny tale told through Laurens point of view, with the occasional interjection of sense and nonsense from the other characters. A plausible romance, with a love relationship not torn asunder by fear of vampires or pack responsibilities: no, these were real people, with honest issues that many will find applicable to their own lives. Theres nothing wrong at all with escape romance, but the profusion of supernatural and paranormal romance novels often lead readers (and authors) to forget that real people are sometimes as, if not more fascinating than their paranormally infused counterparts.

Written with attention to pacing and characters, the story unfolds to present a series of surprises for Lauren. When the judge awards her a barn that her ex-husband had not mentioned in the assets statement for the divorce proceedings, Lauren finds an old merry go round, still glorious despite the grime and neglect. The carousel is a perfect metaphor for the story, neglected beauty and joy, travelling only in circles and tarnished brass detracting from its glory. Lauren spends much of the book doing just that, relying on her anger, hurt feelings and incorrect assumptions to keep her travelling in one single circle, never looking up or out. As the layers of grime are removed, and the renovation of the merry go round begins, Lauren begins to lose her crust of anger and hurt, and starts to look at her own behaviour as potential cause of her unhappiness.

The narration by Margie Lenhart was a perfect accompaniment to the story: modulating her tone and pacing slightly to indicate the different characters, without overreaching and making it feel forced or overworked, her words brought characters well defined by the author into brilliant bas relief, and the book was a joy to listen to.

For me, there is no requirement that every romance have a happily ever after, but this one does, in a sweetly described scene that left a smile on my face.

Four Awesome Stories

I always love a good novella because sometimes you're just in the mood for one or four. This book contains four fun, action-packed romance stories that were exciting, intriguing and humorous! I great read!

I didn't care for the first story,but the rest were good. if the first story was a bit better I would have given 5 stars

Nocturnal

I gave this one a four star because they put three books in this one. But the last book is the same one that they put out for this month. Why would They do that. Or are they running out of these types of stories.

Vampire Romance

Well, to start with this isn't what i thought it would be at all. All the others are great this one just was not.. It was on another planet it wasn't vampires like i'm use to i guess that's what i didn't like. Didn't like any of them almost stopped reading after first chapter of the first book, but i went ahead and finished it. Can say that i have no idea what they were about since i didn't enjoy them. Most books stay with me this one did not.

refreshing romantic urban fantasy

"Halfway to Dawn" by Susan Krinard. The hostilites between humans and vampires heat up while Special Forces Captain Fiona Donnelly and fugitive vampire slave Jonathan Kane team up to protect a negotiator trying to end the war.

"The Gift" by Theresa Meyers. In Pennsylvania Vampire Cullen McCormack needs the locket that Angelica Edwards recently inherited and wears around her enticing neck if he wants his existence to continue.

"Bright Star" by Linda Thomas-Sundstrom. Heaven sends Dylan McCay to keep human astronomer Savannah Clark from finding the Christmas Star that will lead to the mortals learning immortal angels and fallen exist.

Each tale is a refreshing romantic urban fantasy starring fascinating protagonists who make the paranormal seem real though the respective storylines end abruptly. Additionally the anthology contains a short story "The Gatekeeper" by Heather Graham in which Elven detective Saxon Kirby and hybrid elf-werewolf dancer Calleigh McGowan hunt a killing werewolf as the prequel to the upcoming Keepers saga.

Surprising Climax, Gifted Storyteller

I discovered Deborah Raneyâs books this past year and immediately fell in love with her stories. Iâve been trying to catch up on as many of her books as I can. After All is the surprising climax to her Hanover Falls trilogyâand I enjoyed all three books in the series. In this last book, just when we thought Susan Marlowe was beginning to heal from the Grove Street fire and the loss of her husband and so many friends, sheâs faced with yet another monumental challenge to her faith.

I love how Deborah interweaves her multiple, 3-D characters with mystery, romance, suspense, and relationship struggles. She is a gifted storyteller and showcases her skills in this surprising conclusion of love, betrayal and forgiveness. In After All, Deborah captured my attention from the first page to the last with her mixture of tender, tough, and memorable charactersâjust like she does with all of her books. Youâll want to read the entire trilogy. I look forward to her next book!

Awesome Book and Series!

After All: A Hanover Falls Novel (Hanover Falls Novels)is the third book in the Hanover Falls series. I found the story to be engaging and full of mystery, romance and faith. Ms Raney's characters are realistic and heart warming and there are definitely a few plot twists that are sure to surprise you!

This book can be read as a stand alone but reading the series in whole really lends to understanding the nuances of this final book in the Hanover Fall series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Great Christian book

This was a great second book in the Hanover Falls series. You get to know more characters you are introduced to in the first book. I also followed this up with the third book in the series. Great reads and pretty fast too.

Strong story and characters

Would you listen to Tell Me a Secret again? Why?

I would listen to this again for Rand. She's a very enjoyable character. The story was really enthralling as well, but I think it treats teen pregnancy a little too lightly.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was pleasant enough. I'm sorry the characters didn't suffer a visible development. Except for Rand the rest of them remain pretty much the same. Would have loved to see her mother repent a little more.

Which character as performed by Jenna Lamia was your favorite?

Well... Rand, but I don't think it was because of the performance. :)

No, but I listened to it after a long list of bad books so maybe that's also a reason why I enjoyed it so much. It's not a gem, but deserves at least one read.

Good, light, romance that has the ahhhhh factor.

Really nice and well paced love story about two people with deep, old emotional 'baggage' who try fighting their obvious physical attractions by making them into a purely business proposal. However, their partnership brings them closer and closer together and soon the proposal becomes less about business and more about love.

In my opinion, definately worth the credit.

Dangerous Haven is a 5 star treat!

This was a pleasant 5 star surprise. This was a very well developed story and the characters were realistic. All together this was a captivating love story. If you like Sandra Brown, Lynsay Sands, Linda Howard, Lynn Kurland and other like these authors, you will enjoy this author and this story. Audible please get more books by this author. I am a new fan of Barbara Clark!

Great story line!

I wasn't sure about this book at first but as I kept listening I liked it more and more. The narator was ok but I feel like she could have been a little more animated with the characters.

This audiobook was a pure delight! The plot was great, the characters were well defined and fun; overall an awesome read!

Not bad

The performance was good but parts of this story drove me crazy. The main male was a jerk and the main female a pushover. The author started with some basic assumptions about women that were quite insulting. The male found himself attracted to the female when she broke the "mold" of every women he's know by having the occasional bout of strength or independence. But at every opportunity, she succeeded all her power to him. Even after he'd blackmailed and betrayed her. Yeah, entertaining but frustrating.
