    Too Many Chances
Who doesn't like a good alpha billionaire love story? I know I do and one of the reasons I read this series. The story line line kept me turning the pages to see where Gatsby and Annabelle ended up. Annabelle honestly had more patience and forgiveness than most humans. I was quite surprised these two found their HEA, but Ms. Byrd didn't fail me. Really hoping Maggie finds her love story since she was such a great friend to Annabelle and can't wait to see what happens to the other two Wild brothers.
    Eh..
I read this book because of all the great reviews... of which I'm a little baffled. I'm not one to criticize an author's work, I think it's amazing that they can write stories for our entertainment. With that being said, I literally forced myself to finish this book. For starters the hero has a stupid name that I hated reading. Tristan was a great name the author should have stuck with... Gatsby?? Ugh...and to top it off, he was a Jerk throughout the whole book.. minus the first three chapters. Was he bipolar? Probably, but that wasn't written in. The heroine was a spineless doormat and I found myself skipping sections just to get through the book. The writing style was also a little annoying. The use of contractions would have helped this story flow better.
I didn't hate it, but it was like store bought pizza
I didn't hate it, but it was like store bought pizza. You'll eat it, but you'd rather have something more authentic. The potential is there, I saw where the characters could have been developed, but Tristan is so flat and I couldn't relate to Annabelle's feelings. There are unnecessary page breaks, for example, he pops out of the water "He tosses his head and all hair from his face dances and falls into place. A beautiful, friendly smile forming on his lips." PAGE BREAK "I'm Tristan," he says. (Mind you they are still in the water.) This happens a lot and it doesn't jive well with the flow of the story.
Not Exactly What I was Expecting...
This story had a good plot, I just feel that it didn't build well. The main character's love interest,Tristan, is overly apologetic as much as the main character is a nag... The relationship peaks after a week or so, and the entire backdrop of the story is rushed, spending more time concentrating on inconsequential events, and less on the actual plot. I had pretty high expectations for this book, given the previous views, but turned out obviously disappointed. Even the ending was stopped abruptly, which I felt it could have been wrapped up nicer. Like I said, the plot was a good idea, I just was left wanting so much more...
    So disappointed
I just finished this book and I'm honestly just sitting here wondering what I just spent my time reading.

    Publisher's Summary:
*Note* This is a true love story. It is a story about overcoming tragedy and circumstance. It's about learning to heal through the heartache when you would rather hide from it. Lily and Cooper meet, and nothing is ever the same.
"I have dents, bruises, scars, and cracks so deep that it's a wonder I'm not in a million pieces...."
Sometimes things aren't always what they seem. Sometimes pain lies underneath, buried so deep that for a moment you let yourself forget - until you can't.
I didn't realize how numb I was until I started feeling again, and he made me feel - everything. Cooper Hudson came into my life when I needed him the most - twice.
This is my story. This is the story of us.
"It was funny how you never really realized how lifeless you were until someone came along and gave you that shock to the chest that forced your heart to start beating again."

    Sad
The story is both slow and sad. The subject matter tragic and yet your aware of none of this until 3/4 of the way into the story. When I say slow I mean slow. The last 1/3 of the book is where all the story unfolds. I'm glad I hung in there. Still it was way longer and drawn out then I felt most people would hang in for ( just my opinion) narrator did an awesome job on her portrayal of the characters. I received this book free of charge in order to receive an honest review.
    a beautiful love story.
it was a great book, but I do have some pet peeves and she hit them. they are called hiccups, not hick offs. and when you agree with something you nod your head not shake it. nodding is up and down and shaking is side to side. one more thing, she is a twenty something woman and it bugs me that she calls her father Daddy, instead of Dad or father. once in awhile calling him Daddy would be OK and place more meaning on the emotion she is feeling at the time but that is all she calls him, and it bugs me.
the writing aside, the story was fantastic and it's hard to believe that it's a true story. the irony of the events it's absolutely fictional, except it's not. this kind of love is the kind women dream of. it's captivating. I would still recommend this book to friends.
    Someone turn down the sap!
First of all, I want to say that this was indeed a sappy love story but I did enjoy it to an extent. This extent was the way-too-coincidental development of the book. Okay, setting that aside, this storyline was definitely a New Adult romance because we didn't encounter past loves even though the young man was supposed to be 30. The young woman seemed immature although I gave her the benefit of the doubt because she was grieving. The story centered itself around their relationship to the exclusion of their respective jobs, and hobbies because they instant became glued to the hip. Love was declared after a mere week of being together and at that time I started to roll my eyes and didn't stop until the epilogue.
The narrator did a great job . As for creditworthiness, I would say yes if you're underage!

    What did I read?
I'm still sitting here wondering what I just read and why did I like it so much? Kathleen Gerard is a very unique writer that has a style I haven't ever read before.
This story is sweet and cute and heartbreaking and sad and... just funny. I couldn't have loved Prozac anymore and this story was just so consuming. Couldn't turn it off.
Veronica Pace is a favorite. There's nothing she can't narrate and this book proves that.
You've just got to love Prozac (the dog!!)
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would certainly recommend this audiobook. I had previously read the ebook version of this story and was intrigued to see if I enjoyed the audiobook version as much - and I certainly did! Great story, well narrated, with mystery, fun and love elements - brilliant!
What did you like best about this story?
Prozac is an amazing character. It is so different to read a story told from the point of view of a dog - but there again, he's no ordinary dog, after all! An enthralling read/listen!
What about Veronica Paces performance did you like?
The narrator reads at an appropriate pace, using her expressive voice to bring the story to life in the imagination of the reader. I would certainly like to read other stories narrated by this lady in future.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I certainly had emotional reactions to this book. It takes the listener on a journey where they experience the full range of emotions - including many laugh out loud moments!
    Any additional comments?
This is the first audiobook I've listened to and enjoyed for many years and certainly has whet my appetite to listen to more in future. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this one to anyone who enjoys escaping into laugh out loud mysteries with a side serving of romance!

    Love this story
After reading Nicholas and Rebecca's story, I had to immediately one click book 2 in the series to get the older brother Nathan's story. OMG. Again, I loved this book. More than the first one. Something about Nathan just tugs at my heart. As a child he'd tried to protect his younger brother from the abuse their father dealt out to them. When Nicholas had tried to kill himself and Nathan had saved him which had led to their parents being imprisoned and Nathan taking on the role as legal guardian of his brother at just 18 years of age, I knew it would have damaged him growing up with all that. He is a Dominant and only has Dom/Sub relationships. He's pretty strict about what he wants but not cruel fortunately. He's my favourite, got to say out of the two brothers.
Stella wants to explore the whole Dom/Sub relationship as a way to escape the stress of her job. She ends up paired off with Nathan and the two together are perfect. The sex is hot and explosive. She is demure and submissive with him, but she does like to stir him a little with some of the things she says and does so she's not a complete yes person to him. They are great together and I could see that Nathan is feeling more with her than he has for anyone in the past but he fights his feelings, that's for sure. Once I realised their story isn't over in this book, I was one clicking again. I really love this series so far and wish I hadn't taken so long to start it.
This is a must read series that I would highly recommend. Read it
The complications of both brothers come out in book 2 and will have you gripped not wantinimg to put down. Nathan's story is even more complicated but you will want to here more. This is a must read series that I would highly recommend. Read it now
    Book Two!!
This is the Second Book in Alice Raines's series, and I am totally loving it so much! The series begins with the story of the younger brother of the two, Nicholas. Then, it continues with Nathan's love story with his submissive, Stella. These stories are great, and I appreciate the fact that there are plenty of great sex scenes! Equally as important though, are the very emotional scenes which tear at your heart. Both brothers have endured very scarring events and Miss Raines very gently discusses them. All in all, very well done!
    Great series being revealed
Loving this second installment of the series. Ready for the next book.
    Darkness untwisted
Reading the last book of the series by mistake, first. Reading the ending to the brothers dilemma of dealing with there dysfunctional family, now all comes into focus with the completion the first two novels. I am enjoying the series immensely and hopes other readers pickup the novels but start with the first Darkness within him.

    Well
This book was given in exchange for an unbiased review via audiobook boom. This was a story that worked through a child who turned himself into a billionaire after being abused and neglected. He lost his parents and was sent to live with relatives who did not want him. It is told from the girl's point of view who loved him before he was sent away. When they meet again he has just bought the company she works for. Although a short story, it was complete. There was too much sex for less than a two-hour story. But the story ended well. Dewayne did not become bitter he became an advocate for others who suffered as he had.
Short to the Point Second Chance Romance
This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.
A second chance romance. Years apart, separated at 15, the hero and heroine reconnect when he buys the business she works for. At first he acts as if he doesn't know her but she doesn't let that fly. Short audio, less than 2 hours, everything moves quickly so there isn't a lot of development, but it's enjoyable anyway with a HEA. The hero has changed and the heroine is instrumental in helping him.
The narrator at times was a bit fast, but has an enjoyable voice and pretty good timing. If you are looking for quick entertainment and don't want to invest a lot of time, this is perfect for you. Has steam, without a doubt!
    The boy next door
Sweet novella...Maria walks into the office of the new owner of her company and discovers the boy next door. Dwayne was her bff growing up but then he moved away when they were 15 after his parents were killed. At first he acts as if he doesnt know her then, over the next few weeks, he behaves like a bear. However, over time the two rekindle their relationship. Dwayne has a dark past and Maria is patent and supportive as he works through the anger and pain. The story dragged a bit about midway but we are rewarded with a sweet HEA...
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A hot sexy romance with history
Well... this is a surprisingly intense story considering it's not very long. It sure packs a punch with lots of hot sexy fun, some tension and some rocky sailing. (Please forgive the mixed metaphors.)
I really liked Maria as a character, she's determined and loyal. She's also willing to ride out the tough times having faith that it's going to work out in the end and it will all be worth it. Talk about a bunch of characteristics and behaviors that are worth copying.
And her chemistry with Dwayne? Smoking hot!
If you're looking for something hot with plot...

    Fast and Fury
Great read. Characters are well written. Chemistry is hot. The racing gets your blood pumping and all the juices flowing. Sometimes we jump to conclusions that cost us precious time. Loved the HEA true to form for Mason.
    A good quick read.
I really liked the idea of this book. The storyline was good and I finished this book in one sitting. However the characters often flip flopped between seeming very, very young and acting like adults. I think another edit would have taken this book to the next level by fixing spelling mistakes and continuity errors.
the characters didn't seem like I could really relate to them
It was an okay read. It was predictable but it is what it is. Wasn't really drawn into the characters, the characters didn't seem like I could really relate to them.
    Fast and furious!
I loved Mason's personality. Gorgeous, dangerous and still a stand up guy. I liked that Layla wasn't a stick figure too. Loved having a thick girl as the female lead.
    Great book!
I received this book as an ARC read. It was a fast pace book about illegal street racing. I enjoyed the story line and the characters. This is a great summer read.

Welcome to Storm, Texas, where passion runs hot, desire runs deep, and secrets have the power to destroy....
Get ready. The storm is coming.
As Hannah Grossman grapples with the very real possibility that she is dating one Johnson brother while secretly in love with another, the entire town prepares for Founders Day. The building tempest threatens not just Hannah's relationship with Tucker and Tate but everyone in Storm, as dire revelations threaten to tear the town apart.
    Members Reviews:
A Satisfying Conclusion to Season 1
This book brought the first season of Rising Storm to a satisfying conclusion, while still leaving some things up in the air so that a second season can happen.
My one complaint about the book, and this is mainly because I want more of the story, is that it could have been split into two books. The first half was about the love triangle between Tate/Hannah/Tucker. It was quite well-written, with enough twists that I was taken off guard by some of what happened. The second half was about the Founder's Day Celebration and Dakota's blowing the town apart because she's a spoiled brat who got her heart broken. Yeah, my opinion on Dakota hasn't changed one iota, even though she seemed to have some remorse towards the end of the book.
I thought the second half of the book could have been split off into its own book. That may just be me, though, because one of the things I like about huge secrets coming to light is the fallout that occurs. We didn't get nearly enough of the fallout. I wanted to see more about the WHOLE Rush family's reaction to Sebastian's philandering. I wanted to see more about the Salts feelings about Ginny's lie. I wanted to see the rest of the Morenos rally around Ginny, even though I'm fairly certain none of them are thrilled with her decision to lie about the baby. (Well, a perceived lie. I'm not entirely convinced that the baby isn't Jacob's. There will have to be a DNA test. And if I know my soap operas, there will be some tampering with that test to make the question linger that much longer.) And I wanted to see the rest of the Alvarezs react to Dakota blowing the town apart. Not to mention the other families peripheral to these families. This easily could have been spun off into its own book, and the love triangle from the beginning could have filled its own book.
Regardless, it was very well-written, and I am eagerly anticipating Season 2, as well as the mid-season books that are going to be coming out soon.
One other thing that I really enjoyed is the introduction of the Abernathys. Specifically Gavin. I get the feeling that he might be gay, which makes me very excited. That's been the one thing missing from these books. There hasn't really been any LGBT presence, aside from the Payton/Francine flirtation, which, while nice, had such a slow burn compared to the other romances in the book. Perhaps the book in Season 2 that Christopher Rice is writing will focus on Gavin, and possibly Jeffry (my gaydar prickles with him, too)? And include Francine/Payton as well?
In either case, there should be plenty of story to go around for the next season, and I can't wait.
    Thunder Rolls
Thunder Rolls is the season one finale for Rising Storm, and it does what any good season finale does.
