Mouth watering sweet romance set in small town, USA

This is one of those just all around feel good books that when you read the final sentence you say, "Ah." if not aloud...then in your mind. I also had a smile on my face and blurry vision.

There is more than one romance to learn about in this small Wisconsin town. And two uncles are cast in the role of cupid when they need to travel to Europe to be at the bedside of the oneâs sister-in-law, Anita. They canât shut down their business, the Tutti-Frutti ice cream parlor, so Uncle Siegfried calls upon Elizabeth while Uncle Pauly phones his nephew, Rob, who is in Chicago managing his own successful restaurant, to fill in and manage the business in their absence. Elizabeth (who refuses to be called Lizzyâfor reasons) and Rob went to school together where he was known as the âhotâ football quarterback who set records while she, with her stuttering disability, is the quiet smart girl. She has had a crush on him for many years but their past interaction has left her with a dread of being in his presence â ever. loved it !!

I thought this was a truly amazing story and very close to home in the lives of many. I love the honesty and true grit from staying thinking it's love to rebound to the real deal. I love the HEA because it shows there can be light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

I was a little disappointed in the narrator at times she seemed very robotic with very little to no emotion just reading from a page and other times she hit the nail on the head with the sarcasm. Over all I loved it!!

Beautiful Story

This is a wonderful story about Love and overcoming obstacles in life to arrive at a peaceful place we should all get to experience in life

WHAT A WONDERFUL STORY

Though the main theme is the serious problem of domestic violence, this story shines with wonderful characters. Kara, who escapes a violent marriage tells her story with bravery and humor. I absolutely loved every character (well except Danny). The words that came out of Kara's mouth were at times hilarious~her mind did not have a filter. Debbie, Mitch, and D.J. were all so supportive. Ending and epilogue were just perfect! Congratulations to the author, Diane Rose Duffy, for the beautiful story and the narrator, Jennifer Bossio, for her superb performance. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...

Super story. Great reading. Didn't want it to end.

First novel better

The narration was was first class. I never connected w/ the characters like in his first novel. The name dropping was not descriptive as much as distracting. The narration carried it overall very sophomoric.

Good if you can make it past the beginning

I struggled to get into this book but since it was for a book club I pushed on and am glad I did. The narrator was a bit dull but after a while you started to see where the story was going and put the narrators voice aside. It got really exciting towards the middle and stayed interesting until thd end. The ending was my favorite because I didn't know which direction the book was going to go. Over all a good summer listen!

Lead Me To Love

5 Stars!!!!

Lexxie Couper, just when I didnât think you could create a better guy. WRONG! Then comes along Samuel âHotnessâ Gibson. I loved him. I love these guys you write theyâre all so âI know what I wantâ kind of guyâs. This book, yet again, did not disappoint at all. The Lead Guitarist can strum a tune and some hot love. Super Rock God status.

In this book we meet Samuel Gibson lead guitarist for Blackthorne. The band is starting over with no Nick since he retired. Samuelâs future rock princess is Lily Pearce. Lilyâs brother Eugene (her twin) is trying out for the lead singer position in the band and this is how they meet. Lily is a huge challenge for Samuel. His attitude - "Game On!" Loved it!

Let me say this again, I loved this book!! I want a Samuel of my own. Samuel is the character that has made the biggest changes so far in the rock life style. He doesnât know he is going to make these changes until Lily comes along. He comes out with a bang. I really loved his rock âget upâ where ever he went. He was passionate, playful and loyal. Lily doubted everything! She was skeptical, confused and passionate all rolled into one. I wanted to slap her silly. She got on my last nerve so many times but Samuel stood by her and stood up for her brother. Eugene, I really liked him and pulled for him the entire time. The Eugene and Lily scene in rehab brought me to tears. I felt Eugeneâs pain. Thanks for the mascara runs. This story was angsty and had the fairytale floating in there as well. As with all of Lexxieâs books the heat gets rolling right away. You donât have to wait long for things to happen.

The story flowed well. The ending was good and I felt complete even though I know there is more that will show up in the rest of the series. The next installment âBlame It On The Bassâ (Leviâs Story) is out soon. Looking forward to this!

I would recommend this book as I would all of Lexxieâs books.

A GREAT LISTEN.... MY EARPHONES NEVER LEFT MY EARS

Ooops, I've accidentally skipped book 2 which is a problem I'll soon be putting right because these awesome books draw you into a world where Vampires, Werewolves, Fae.... and now another paranormal creature all openly co-habit the world of the Humans. But even more it's the brotherly love you feel between this crazy band of five Vampires/Rock Stars who all happily live under one roof like one big family together with a couple of mates and one sweet little girl.

Leigh had a big big secret and she was running from someone so she didn't do friends or relationships and every couple of years she moved towns but she was being stalked by a determined love sick Vampire that was sure she was his mate. But little did Rebel, that love sick Vampire, know that he was about to bring danger, drama, death, destruction and despair on his family by claiming the one woman that was meant for him.

A non-stop nail-biting, edge of your seat thrilling listen by a talented author whose world-building skills made you easily envisage each scene and each character as all the drama and romance plays out. There's a feisty kick-ass Heroine whose angry snappy dialogue soon turns into one of sighs of contentment and moans of delight when she gets a sight of her naked Hero (and who can blame her). Good narration from multiple POV's but mainly the H/H's.

Worth a credit! This is an Author who likes to play with your emotions and boy does she succeed in this pulse-pounding story and she writes a great paranormal romance bursting with love and exciting action.... so YES very creditworthy.

Rebel's Mate!

OMG...Danielle James you really know how to write a story and keep one engrossed from start to finish. I loved the first to audiobooks in the Forbidden Love series but this one is my favorite thus far. I love Rebel and finding out this woman Leigh Harmond, who he's been stalking is his mate but finding out what she is blew me away but not Rebel. He cares less that she can shift into a dragon. I find it funny how Rebel goes about things but that made the story funny the majority of the time. Of course it's not all fun and games, especially since Leigh has been hiding and on the run her entire life it seems from the only other dragon in the world, Merrick. He's determined to make her his and not let their line die out. Merrick will stop at nothing to get her but he's going to have to go through all the brothers and more. This story is fascinating and filled with action.

Narrator, Nathan Drake does a great job with his telling and performance of this story. He kept me on the edge of my seat, anticipating what would happen throughout this story. His female voices were really good and his voice and accents were identifiable so I knew exactly who was speaking in this story. Overall, another 5 star story and performance.

Not quite a perfect 10 but a good 8. A really sweet story that is refreshingly simple. Short but apart from I would have liked a bit more closure at the end felt 'right'. Never slow but equally not too fast that it felt rushed. I loved the fact that none of it felt 'rehashed'. I hate sex scenes where you would swear the author used the same format but just chucked in a few extra words. I know that real life can be a bit like that but 'hey us girls deserve to dream'.

Great Writing and Storytelling

I'm still listening but I had to write a review. This book is delicious! It took a few minutes to get accustomed to her type of storytelling but once I did oh boy! She had me giggling like a schoolgirl at some of the scenes. Her delivery was off the charts!

The writing is superb. After all a great storyteller can only do so much if they don't have a great story to tell. The attention to detail, the honest emotions, the fully fleshed out characters were phenomenal. I could really imagine what was going on and why it was happening. I loved that the main characters were vulnerable but not stupid and naïve! Nothing ruins what is turning out to be a great story like studied ignorance.

To the author and storyteller both I say thanks a bunch for such a delightful tale.

This book is amazing! Please allow me to tell you why I feel the way I do.

I was extremely engaged by the plot. The author shines brightly with this golden element. From the beginning to the end of this book the author does an awesome job telling this story. The plot draws you into this wonderful place and time. I was completely drawn in from the beginning.

While I love a good story, which this book offers, the characters make the story work. The author has created characters that you can relate to, that you can understand, and that you care about. I am certain that you will want to read more because you will want to know more about these characters and what happens next.

I love this series but I went back to read this first. it helps with the back sorry on why Damien is the way he is. can't wait to read the third.

Just absolutely loved this prequel! We get more of an insight about Damian. This is all about him and his decision to never have a commited relationship. We also get to see Damian's side of hiw he met Alexis This does leaving wanting more and glad there are 2 more audios!

Sex sex and more sex

Would you listen to The Heartbreaker again? Why?

This book is a prequel to a series of books. I really enjoyed getting to understand why Damian is why he is and how he goes about living his life. I would likely listen to this again if I went through the whole series.

What did you like best about this story?

The way the author set the background and got all the initial details about the main character out of the way before we got into the story of him and the mystery girl on the stairs.

What about Lynn Barringtons performance did you like?

She was a great narrator and really added to the story. I really enjoy how she does not over do it. This story had plenty of room for her to go over board and she rained it in just right.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The beginning when you find out about his Mother and what she did to him. It is sad how something like that can shape the whole life of a person.

If you are going to read this series do not skip this book as it gives the perfect amount of background to the story.

Love Damian

I love Damian, he's one hot, sexy and cocky single male. This novella gives you insight of Damian's personal life and better understanding of why he acts the way he does. I really enjoyed listening to the story and looking forward to continue listening to the next book Damian. Lynn Barrington did amazing job at narrating the story and how she changed voices to each character. Jessica Wood did amazing job and recommend listening to heartbreaker. Love it.

All that and a bag of chips

Once again Ms. Ehrlich delivered the high caliber story that I have come to expect from her [see Layers and Inner Core]. She engaged the audience with a well-written tale which included a great plot and cast of characters.

[Both Nia and Reeves are starting over in a new town and waiting for their permanent housing to be ready.] Nia and Reeves share the same last name of Mitchell so it is understandable that the hotel booked them into the same room. Imagine Nia's surprise when she walks out of the shower wearing a towel and sees Reeves inside her hotel room. Reeves is immediately besotted at the physical attributes of the mysterious Ms. Mitchell. Nia is utterly embarrassed, wants to crawl into a large hole and all the while drinking him in with her gaze.

Nia and Reeves keep bumping into each other and figure out that they are actually neighbors. Reeves isn't willing to ignore the instant chemistry he feels for Nia and he sets out to learn about her and what caused the sadness he sees lingering in her eyes. Mia sees that underneath it all, Reeves too, is suffering from a loss of his own and is holding on by a thread.

Together they slake the desires of the flesh and find the strength to make it through another night in one another's arms. They fall into friendship and slowly progress to a real relationship. It isn't all roses; they will have to find a way to work through their baggage and avoid people (Katie) trying to break them up while they both work on finding the courage to open their hearts to one another. BTW I will never look at my favorite board-game the same way....

You might be asking yourself why Ms. Ehrlich choose Retrace for the title. I have alluded to the fact that both Nia and Reeves are recovering from a tragic loss in their life. In both cases, they feel like they should have been able to prevent the death and feel some measure of guilt that they are still alive. If you have ever lost someone close to you, you understand this feeling. After losing someone very close to you, you wonder - almost obsess - over how things would be if you had done something differently. Ms. Ehrlich captured this feeling perfectly.

My closing thoughts: It is a very talented author who can tackle the subject matter Sigal did, weave a love story in and include heart-warming moments.

A Strong 4.5 Stars

This was a really emotional read. The deeper I got into the story, the harder it was to tear myself away to return to real life. Rose suffers a fall and her family discovers she's dying. Old secrets come home to roost as Rose's daughter, Ellen, tries to make peace with the ghosts of the past and with the mother she always believed to be difficult and distant. Rose's life hasn't turned out the way she planned, and she can't let go until she comes to terms with her mistakes. While home caring for her mom in her final days, Ellen will discover more about herself, her marriage, and the family she thought she knew. The book could have benefited from one final pass by an editor or beta reader to clean up the silly mistakes, and I really feel that Ms. Walsh pulled away emotionally from the one scene where Ellen deals with with her mother's past. I would have liked to see some final understanding between them. But...isn't that just like life? Sometimes, you don't get the ending you hoped for. The touches of Irish and Long Island made the story especially personal for me.

Lovely realistic women

This story was told in alternating mother/daughter viewpoints. There were other female characters, as well: aunts, grandmothers, a granddaughter, etc. The women take center stage, it's their story merely punctuated by a bad stepfather, philandering husband, unknown biological father, new lover.

I loved the dialogue. The interconnected relationships between the women rang true. Each woman was a fully realized personality, separate and distinguishable from the others. The men were not caricatures, not afterthoughts but realistically drawn. Not a fairy tale ending, either, although a satisfying one.

Interestingly story

I thought I would like this story from the beginning. I wasn't sure if it would be something I could enjoy, but I liked the way it was told in Rose's and Ellen's view. I actually wouldn't mind reading more of Bernadette's novels in the future especially if they are all this interesting

This is a beautifully written book

This is a beautifully written book. The women are vivid and realistic characters, and their troubles are real. They have made very poor choices in regard to the men in their lives, and those poor choices have caused problems for future generations.

So why am I giving this book four stars instead of five?

I just couldn't fully sympathize with them. At times I wanted to whack them upside the head for some of the choices, and at other times I wanted to shake them for clinging to past woes. But my reaction is testimony to the power of Ms. Walsh's book. The characters were that real to me.
