Today guest is Edwene Gaines, a one time single mother and best-selling author who used to struggle until she discovered the connection between purpose and prosperity. Is “being forgiving” essential for a single mother? Today guest, best-selling author Edwene Gaines, says yes! “If you’re unwilling to forgive someone it’s like stabbing yourself with a knife and expecting the person who did you wrong to feel the pain. Morevover, harboring a grudge completely blocks our ability to have peace of mind and shuts off your prosperity.” Everyone, but especially us single mothers, can’t allow this kind of poison to breed in our families.

AndroidRSSAs a single mother, Edwene lifted her and her daughter out of total poverty into a life that was once unimaginable. Her income double and tripled within the first year of practicing what Edwene calls “four spiritual laws to prosperity, ” and then it kept growing. She went through dramatic personal transformations, increased her faith, found courage, became happy, and dedicated her life to helping others.
Today show focuses on the part two to the prosperity puzzle: Goal Setting. You’ll find out why Edwene (and most leadership experts) feel goals are necessary, how to handle a fear of failure, how to set realistic goals by internally “checking-in, ” and what pragmatic steps you must take after you’ve set a goal.
Edwene makes goal-setting understandable, practical, and easy to teach to your children too. Edwene shares how she taught goal setting to her grandsons quite successfully, and how she obtained every goal she has ever set for herself (though not in the time table she wanted, or the way she expected.) “Sometimes I wanted something and I got it. Then I realized that it didn’t make me happy so I let it go, and I learned a lot in the process, ” says Edwene. “Goal setting is not about getting stuff (though you’ll probably get a lot of stuff in the process), it’s about learning what’s really important to you.”
So unwrap your gift of increased prosperity and inner peace—to keep all year long—by tuning into today’s show!

Progressive private schools across the country are adding etiquette to their curriculum. Good Morning America is airing features on teaching etiquette to children. But one single mom has asked me if it’s worth the effort. “Is it really important?” she said. “Is it worth the daily struggle and endless corrections it takes to teach good manners?”

In our sexed-up, violence-based media world, experts are asking if our children are being bombarded with images that are far too sexy, too violent, too soon. As a researcher and mother, I say, “Absolutely yes!” But today’s guest, developmental psychologist and mother Dr. Nancy Buck, begs to differ. “Every generation of parents has said the same thing,” she argues. While her argument doesn’t sway me (I remain horrified at the effects the media are having on our teens), she and I do agree on one thing: if parents don’t mitigate the images and influences, then these images and influences will shape our children’s values for life!

AndroidRSSJoin us on today’s show for a lively talk about the influences of media and Hollywood on our kids—and what mothers can do about it. It’s not as simple as turning off the TV. “Good luck trying to protect your children from these influences,” says Dr. Buck. “That will eventually be a losing battle.” But what moms can do, she says, is have early, straightforward, and truthful conversations with their kids. If mothers consistently and critically discuss what’s on television and in song lyrics, then these influences will have much less impact.
On this show, you’ll hear how I overcame my discomfort and was able to talk about sexual issues with my son (earlier than I would have wanted to) and, as a result, built a new level of trust with him. You’ll also hear Dr. Buck’s psychological wisdom about what’s really going on with children—their struggle for power and their struggle to get their needs met in some way—and how these struggles affect the media’s impact.
By the end of today’s show, you’ll have a clear action plan for dealing with the sexy, violent influences coming at your children.

Do you consider your child a genius? In most school systems, only a handful of kids are chosen for gifted-and-talented programs. If your child isn’t selected (as most aren’t) does this mean that he or she isn’t gifted?

AndroidRSSToday’s guest, international educator Paul Scheele, answers with an emphatic “No!” And he cites the latest scientific brain research to prove why. “Your child,” says Paul, “absolutely is a genius.”
As parents, this revelation can spur the single most important gift we can give our children: to help them recognize and live in their “genius zone.”
In this show, you’ll learn
· how to identify your children’s unique brand of genius
You’ll also hear stories of how kids get “wounded” in school and come to incorrect conclusions like “I’m not smart. I’m not good at math. I’m not…”—conclusions that can limit them for the rest of their lives. Change those conclusions, and help your kids live lives of genius!
