Sisters Take a Side

On December 24th, 2002, 27-year old Laci Denise Peterson, the 8-months pregnant wife of 30-year Scott Peterson, was reported missing by her family and husband and one of the biggest, most publicized searches began. This week, Sarah and Emily debate the ethics of shower milk, the gender of Mackenzie the Dog, and, believe it or not, whether or not Scott was responsible for Laci's death. In an absolutely bananas turn of events, one sister (*cough Sarah cough*) has the audacity to question Scott's innocence. Send all hate mail directly to Sarah, please.

You all know how much Emily loves a good Washington, DC case. Almost as much as she loves stupid politicians. This week, BOTH take center stage in the tragic story of Chandra Levy, the DC intern who went missing days before her college graduation. Emily takes us through her affair with Harrison Ford, I mean, Gary Condit and tells us what the public got wrong (and right). Sarah decides she hates politics and Baskin Robbins.

You guyyyys! We took a week off researching cases, so we're here today to chat about Sarah's recent celebrity sighting and get all up in our feelings about the community we've found in the strange true crime podcast world. We are also answering your burning questions, like "are you really sisters?"!  But really, thank you so much to our listeners who have been writing in and who sent us questions via Instagram (@sisterstakeaside_podcast).

So, enjoy this one and we'll be back next week with a brand new case!

XOXO,

Sarah & Emily

In October 2002, John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo terrorized the DC metro area for three weeks, killing 10 people and injuring 3 by carrying out a series of sniper attacks. To wrap up our coverage of this case, Emily takes us through a detailed timeline (Type As, unite!) of events, and Sarah finds out for the first time that the DC Snipers were, in fact, NOT driving a white van. Go figure.

In October 2002, John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo terrorized the DC metro area for three weeks, killing 10 people and injuring 3 by carrying out a series of sniper attacks. But the story didn't start there. In Part 1 of our coverage, Emily introduces us to John and Lee and sheds some light on the motives at the core of this horrific campaign of terror. In true STAS style, digressions include cheating, Erin Brockovich, and how to use a credit card.

Two women, both named Mary Morris, were found murdered in their cars just days apart in the suburbs of Houston, Texas. Coincidence or hit man? We both feel pretty strongly about this one! Sarah tells us why she would probably take a police polygraph if asked and Emily reminds us to get yourself a lawyer, girl!

We're bacccck! Sarah walks us through Part Two of the Jodi Arias story, covering the absolutely bananas court proceedings. Emily gets on her soapbox about criminal justice reform and wonders about conjugal visits. It's no surprise what side we take on this one, ya'll.

Everyone has that crazy ex. But few can top the queen of all crazy- Jodi Arias. In our first two-part series, Sarah tells us about the horrific murder of Travis Alexander and gives us some spot-on Jodi impressions. Emily is relieved that the worst thing her ex ever did was text "you ducked up, bro" to her new boyfriend-now-husband.
