May 05, 2020How to: Get your book idea publishedHi guys! Today I felt like sharing with you, some tips on how to prepare yourself in the best way possible before attending a meeting with a publisher house. I’ve been at at least 30 meetings during the last five years, because I’ve had many book ideas and because I’ve had a lot of ‘no’s’ and rejections along the way. And that process of trying to get my book ideas published taught me a lot! So here’s some tips for you, on how to prepare yourself in the best possible way before attending a meeting with a publisher house: 1. Today a lot is about numbers and statistics! Almost more about that, than your creative book idea and what your book is going to be all about 2. So make sure to have reflected upon: how you want to make PR for your book? On which social media platforms you want to promote your book? Try to build a strong foundation of followers on either your Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest or so on 3. Research on the audience you want to publish the book for! How many of them excist? How is your theme relevant for them right now, at this time? 4. Also do some research on your theme fx: if your book is for young women and your goal with the book is to upgrade their mental health, then make sure to do your research on young women and their mental health. In this way you’ll have a lot of numbers and statistics that will prove why your book idea is relevant, why it’s needed on the market and why it’s important for it to be published, right now! No one can argue with numbers or statistics - I mean: facts. A lot of creative people never get through with their projects, because their trying to sell their idea/project/book idea based on their thoughts, feelings and creativity (which is beautiful) but it’s also subjective. Cold facts is objective, and everyone has no other chance than having to understand the point you’re trying to make based on the research you’ve done. In this way, you’ll stand in a stronger position during your meeting with a publisher house. Good luck. ❤️ xx J** DM/EMAIL me if you need help with making your dreams come true. @xxjasminsoe / www.xxjasminsoe.com...more5minPlay
May 05, 2020How to: Memories a scriptHi guys! Today I thought I wanted to share some tips on how to remember a script before presenting it. Whether you work as a television presenter, YouTuber, or you run online courses (or something completely else) then this will be useful for you. A few years ago when I used to work as a television presenter, then we didn’t have any teleprompter in the studio, so I always had to remember the script in my head. And let me tell you this: it was a daily show, and it was all about presenting the latest international and national gossip news, so I never had more than 5-10 minutes to practise. So here’s what I learned, I hope it will benefit you and your dream, whatever it may be: 1. Just remember one sentence at the time, and make all the effort in the way you present it (voice and body language)2. Just cut - it doesn’t have to be a one take, no one is super humans and no one can remember a full script in their head 3. You can also try to remember the top tree most important points to make and then freestyle your way through your recording - but: there’s something very exact and professional about being very detail oriented and strict in the way you present something, and therefore I’ll recommend you to do number 1 tip until you have enough experience to do number 3 tip in a professional way. I know this for sure helped me a lot, and it also helped me relax about not having to do the whole thing perfect. Once you cut during a recording, then there’s room for making mistakes and having fun too. And that’s important. Don’t be so hard on yourself, the most important thing is: get started and do your very best. Until you know better, then do better. xx J** DM/EMAIL me if you need help with making your dreams come true. @xxjasminsoe / www.xxjasminsoe.com...more5minPlay
May 05, 2020How to: Prepare your voice before a performanceHOW TO PREPARE YOUR VOICE BEFORE A PERFORMANCE. Today I want to cover how to prepare your voice before a performance. It could be a performance such as recording a video, a podcast episode or before presenting something to someone (online live-streams, live coaching sessions - you name it!) I’ve found that one of the tools that helps me a lot is the following: go listen to someone who speaks in the way, you would like to perform too! So if you’re going to speak in another language then: go find someone on YouTube or on a podcast, who speaks that specific language and listen to them speak for at least 10 minutes. Another important thing is to be so aware of the WAY they speak, because your brain adobts even more than you think. The way I realised that, was by listening to someone speak in a very boring way and then a few minutes later, when I turned on my microphone to record a podcast episode, then I found myself speak in the exact same way. We’re copycats and so sensitive to sounds, impressions and so on, us humans, which is why it’s so important to choose WHO you listen to speak very wisely. Because you’ll adopt even more than you think from them. So find someone who speaks in a way, that you would like to succeed in too. Also: warm up your voice by speaking with someone before performing something. It doesn’t have to be difficult, keep it simple and fx call a friend or someone from your family and talk with them. After some minutes of doing that, you’re ready to go, go! Enjoy. ❤️ xx J ** DM/EMAIL me if you need help with making your dreams come true. @xxjasminsoe / www.xxjasminsoe.com...more4minPlay
May 05, 2020How to: Get downloads on your podcastHi guys!So today I thought I wanted to share with you how to get downloads on your podcast! As some of you know, because you have read some of my former posts in here, then my podcast went from 0 to 8000 downloads within 24 hours and reached the #1 on iTunes hit list as the most popular podcast show and as the most popular podcast episode in my country, at the time! Today I have more than 65.000 downloads and I haven’t even been so consistent with my podcasting during the last two years. But when I am working on my podcast, then new listeners and downloads tends to start happening, right away! So how do I manage to make that happen? I’ll tell you, because I do have a strategy that I apply and if you apply that strategy too, then I’m sure you’ll start seeing results to happen: 1. My podcast is most often interview based. So contact some profiles, who’s already well known on social media (YouTube or Instagram) 2. Invite them to join your podcast and pick a theme they would love to either promote or to me associated with 3. Ask them to ask their audience for what questions they’re interested in having answered 4. Make them (and yourself!) promote for the episode to come via Instagram story or YouTube videos 5. Customise their interview to the: theme and the questions being asked 6. Create great content which is relevant for your and your guests audience - add value to them 7. Upload your podcast and use some powerful hashtags while uploading it 8. Make your guests promote it on their Instagram account by encouraging their audience to ‘swipe up’. 9. Book new profiles and make them promote for the former episode by telling their audience ‘next time I’ll be guesting this podcast’. In that way you’ll keep creating traction to your podcast and therefore creating even more downloads. xx J** DM/EMAIL me if you need help with making your dreams come true. @xxjasminsoe / www.xxjasminsoe.com...more5minPlay
May 05, 2020How to: Book a meeting on emailHOW TO BOOK A MEETING ON EMAIL/WHAT TO WRITE.This evening I want to encourage you guys to go googling a bit! On Simon Sinek and his book ‘Start with why.’ I read it years ago after I had seen his TED talk about the same topic as well. I don’t remember exactly how he put it, but something has sticked within my mind because I’ve used this way to book meetings on email ever since. Meetings with everything from: publisher houses, television stations/companies and with companies in general. I think most of us tend to start with ‘what’, then ‘why’ and then in the end of an email leaving a few lines on that you want to explain ‘how’ in details when meeting up. And this is a big mistake. Instead: use the ‘urgency’ of starting with ‘why’. Fx when I booked my publisher meeting on my second book (and on my first book too, actually) then I booked them because I was very specific on my WHY. I mentioned why it was relevant to be published now, why the audience needed it now and why I was the perfect candidate/author to write it. IF they rejected me, then I went further and did some research on statistics. Then I send them a new email with facts and statistics that described, why it would be stupid of them business wise not to prioritise meeting up with me for at least 15-30 minutes. And I can tell you - this method works! Because no one wants to make stupid decisions, so make sure to describe WHY whatever you want to pitch/book a meeting on is absolutely needed.Hope this can be helpful for you on your journey towards achieving your dreams. xx J ** DM/EMAIL me if you need help with making your dreams come true. @xxjasminsoe / www.xxjasminsoe.com...more4minPlay
May 05, 2020How to: Sell a TV show idea to a TV stationHOW TO SELL A TELEVISION SHOW IDEA TO A TELEVISION STATION/COMPANY.Hi everyone, today I thought I wanted to share some tips with you guys on how to sell a television show idea to a television station/company. If you’re curious on how to create one, from start to end, then please write a comment below and I’ll make a post on that too. So what I did was to: 1. Be proactive; go on LinkedIn and find a few relevant people who works in a television company in the section you want to sell your idea: fx for children, young people, families, adults or elderly people. 2. Write a few lines on why they should prioritise 15-30 minutes of meeting up with you. 3. Sometimes it’s a question of a ‘numbers game’ regards to getting a ‘yes’ and booking a meeting. But please be patient and wait for their reply at least for 3 days before reaching out to more people who works in the field. 4. Make sure that you’re idea is relevant to the time we live in and also suggest when to show it. Fx my television show idea was about children who starts at modelling and we send it at the/during Copenhagen fashion week. At the moment in time self esteem, body images and so on was hot topics (even for children in the age 12-14 years old) 5. Be aware of your intention and your want. Fx my intention was to write myself into the show because my want was the television station to see my potential as a future children television presenter. 6. If that’s the case for you too, then reflect upon this: why are you relevant? (Fx in my case I worked as a model myself, so it made sense for me to attend the show as well as some sort of ‘expert’) What’s interesting in your story that you can mix up with current trends, hot topics and so on. If you have any further questions on this, then please don’t hesitate to text me. Good luck! xx J** DM/EMAIL me if you need help with making your dreams come true. @xxjasminsoe / www.xxjasminsoe.com...more5minPlay
