And we're back!  On this week's episode of hijinks and hilarity (I mean Double Doinks and Sackles), we mansplain again about the DeShaun Watson suspension verdict, the Miami Dolphins tampering charges, those huge wide receiver contract extensions, training camps, and best/worst case scenarios for each NFL division.  We have a commercial for a pizza place that Travis definitely maybe has been to.  And some Hall of Fame game predictions and one dollar bets.  Give us a listen, you definitely won't regret it... maybe.

For the 2nd episode of the Matcha Monologues series, take a look back at what I discovered at this year's San Diego Comic Con for 2022.  There were a lot of good panels that you might not have heard about and the offsites were particularly fabulous.

We talk about how I learned about handling the Hall H line back when I was learning about the ins and outs of the Con and how it's really not for me anymore.  I also discuss what I am trying to get out of Comic Con besides the free junk and acres of trees it probably took to print out all the fliers being passed out.

And I also talk about what I missed about Comic Con after its 3 year hiatus and what some people might have taken for granted before and after.  It's still a busy mess there, but it's our busy mess and we wouldn't want it any other way.

In this episode, I'd like you to meet my former colleague and friend Marisa Gonzalez. From discovering that she wanted to get into the medical field and nursing school, to what she had to do to prepare her application for nursing school, it's been a long road.   

But that's not all!  As she began school in the year of 2020, there was a thing called COVID which greatly skewed how she was able to learn her craft and skills to get into a great job.  It's a story that we heard all too well from the patient side or the nurse in the hospital.  However I don't think we have heard how it must have felt to get into this industry as the world was in chaos.  

I hope you enjoy this episode and hear how Marisa felt during this entire process as she is literally the next generation of nurses that will take care of us.

This week on Double Doinks and Sackles (DDnS), we talk more about everyone's favorite football player with the most guaranteed money football contract, maybe another reference to Trevor Bauer, and some actual Jimmy G talk about where he might end up.  Then we talk about more fantasy football sleepers and fantasy football busts, because life sometimes doesn't work out the way you draft it.

And this week, a special commercial about the best place to watch football in San Diego county.  And maybe a DDnS theme song?

Episode 4!  We dive back into the wet crevasse of NFL news known as Deshaun Watson.  Somehow bring Trevor Bauer back into the conversation again.  And we talk fantasy football draft PPR strategies for sackling your league of misfit football fans.  Also when is it too early to draft a quarterback?  Do you need to draft kickers and team defenses as soon as possible?  And finally this week, our fake commercial pivots away from Travis' family, kids, and pets to somebody else nearby.

Episode 3 of DDnS! We start with some listener questions to address some things about the podcast that need... well.... mansplaining. Then we switch to some discussion of some hot takes from an array of articles we just read and our predictions for the worst teams of each division for 2022. Baby books are interesting.  They claim to tell you what to expect when you're expecting, but they can't anticipate every thing that might happen.  I don't know of anyone who has encountered a problem with their child and immediately runs to that baby book, goes to that massive index, and finds what problem they have and reads it and immediately applies it right there in real life.  It doesn't happen that often.

And what about the later years, like toddlers, and 8 year olds, and tweens, and teenagers... is there a book for that?  What about how they will make it in the real world?

Yeah, one step at a time.

I know quite a few friends that have kids.  The kids range from 7 months until over 2-3 years old.  I also know a few couples looking to eventually have kids and maybe that's the one thing they have in their grand plan.  All is great, but there's certainly more to just making sure they are ok until they learn to walk.

Today, I talk to two very dear friends that I have been friends with for almost 8 years now and get their insight about parenthood and how it has changed and how it will continue to change.  Sarah and Travis Heath have over 18 years of parenting experience and it's been quite the journey for them.  I feel they could write a book, they would be the first to say they could, but it's going to be immediately obsolete because of what they've seen.

Even if you don't plan to have kids, listen to this episode called "Sarah and Travis Heath - 18 years of parenting and counting", to understand what it takes to be very good modern parents.

Also shout out to the single parents out there, who had to go through part of the journey, by themselves for a time.

We have to pat ourselves on the back.  We've only made one episode of this and Travis is presenting the most hottest of takes and it ends up being super accurate.  Don't worry he'll tell you about it.  No need to listen to your regular NFL insider podcast shows.  Tune into Double Doinks and Sackles for all that.
