On October 31st 2003, 16 year old Liana decided that she wanted to go on a little getaway with her 19 year old boyfriend Felipe. Liana told her Dad Ari that she was going camping with a group of friends around the Sao Paulo area, but she went with Felipe instead. The first day Liana gave her Dad Ari updates about their journey over the phone but on the next day, all of Ari’s calls to Liana went to voicemail. When Ari showed up at the bus stop to pick up his daughter after her trip, he was shocked to find that his daughter never made it back home from the trip, and that she had lied to him.
