Today we're chatting about why I think the next two years (at least) are going to be rough for podcasts due to an industry correction. Sure, we're having a mini-burst of the bubble in the podcasting industry, but how did we get there? The pandemic created the perfect storm for some podcasts, but is the podcast explosion dying down? It feels like the industry is correcting itself at the moment. Movies and television shows are coming back, and podcasts have more to compete with again. Another contributing factor is that a lot of the companies that were created to assist podcasters are starting to experience big lay offs, cutting support away from the creators that need it most. We then talk about the new Apple iOS update which will create more problems than it solves for an entire industry. Audio numbers will drop, ad rates will drop, and some podcasts just won't be able to deal with that, unless they've created multiple revenue streams. Fun stuff.
