This episode was centered around a pretty hefty debate regarding what happens after death. Both religious and scientific views were met head-on, and both were tossed up in the air. Kim gets swapped with an alien who thinks she's headed into the next Emanation (read Heaven) only to find out that there's nothing there but death. Seeing behind the veil is very eye opening and creates some interesting discussions about what we think we know about life, death, and what's beyond the threshold. We're joined today with our good friend Annie to chat Star Trek. Unfortunately, Neelix was not cooking anything in this episode.

What was initially a so-so episode for us, turned into a pretty interesting one after talking about it. Don't get me wrong though, this is definitely a detour episode, with no real progress made on the way home to the Alpha Quadrant. But there are some interesting things here, and we get to know Tuvok a bit better, which is always a good thing.

This episode was a roller coaster of an emotion. It starts off as a simple episode building the Doctor's character. A tiny wormhole is discovered which initially causes a lot of hope for a possible shortcut home, but ends up being just enough to communicate with a Romulan science officer in the Alpha quadrant. The problem that the crew finds themselves in is just a set piece. This episode is all about the people, their relationships, feelings, emotions, and romantic interests. Don't think that it isn't a great episode though. Neelix goes from rage-quitting to being the self-appointed morale officer, and Janeway grapples with what it means to be the captain under these circumstances. We're first introduced to the holodeck in this episode also, as Paris shows off his getaway bar in Marselle.

Neelix, as usual, creates the most amount of chaos possible. He doesn't listen to Chakotay on the away mission and gets his lungs removed by organ snatchers. We talk about what it would feel like to not be able to move for the rest of your life, and we dig into the ultimate philosophical scenario, is it OK to kill for revenge, or in order to save another life?

The second time episode in a row, and this is a good one. Amongst the most watched Star Trek episodes period (according to Netflix), Time and Again sends us, and Voyager, into a chicken-or-egg time loop, referred to as the common loop, where their actions cause something to happen, which in turn causes them to act, which causes the catastrophe, and so on. Team building! The crew of Voyager have to come to terms with the fact that they are alone in the Delta Quadrant, which means they need to work together or be torn apart. The crew gets sucked into a 'spacial anomaly' which presents a time-delayed reflection of Voyager. In order to get out of their predicament, Janeway and Torres will need to trust each other, and mend their relationship to save themselves and everyone.

The Caretaker makes some difficult decisions based on his need to care for the people and planet he ruined, and Janeway makes the biggest, toughest decision of her whole career, which set in motion the fate of her ship, crew, and the entirety of the series. We discuss the Prime Directive, wether or not it's a good or bad thing, and how the introduction to Star Trek Voyager sets the stage for the greatest star trek story yet.

We want to welcome everyone (Star Trek fan or not) to our new podcast, called Some Sort Of Podcast. Each week, we watch an episode of Star Trek, and discuss it over drinks, cigars, etc. This will mostly focus on the contents of the show, but will obviously head down whatever tangents we go on. We will focus on the characters, plot lines, story, fashion, inconsistencies, what's great, what we love, what we hate, and more. We are starting off this podcast with Star Trek Voyager, our very favorite and most highly regarded series (for us anyways). This will offshoot into whatever's next, but we hope to cover all of the series over time.
