In honor of the Vernal Equinox, this episode is dedicated to the shimmering, gently unfurling symbol of Spring! With winter behind us, the Sun and his warmth grows wilder and more golden with each passing day. But there is more to this season than the warming of the world. Spring is associated with the themes of resurrection, fertility, and the reclamation of the sovereign path.
Our listener symbol this episode is a contemplation of the theme of being chased in our dreams.

Oracles and prophetic vision were paramount to life in the ancient world. Along with astrology and haruspicy, consultation of the oracle was recognized as an important way of connecting with the will and vision of the divine.
We live in a world that has stripped away the importance of the oracle and her voice, and so in this episode, we explore stories of the Oracle at Delphi, Apollo, Python, and Gaia, Cassandra, and expressions of the feminine oracle, and snake connections in prophecy. We also contemplate the split between the "mantic," uncontrolled oracle (associated with the feminine) and the "prohetes," the interpreter of the divinations, oftentimes associated with the masculine.
Sit with us as we ask the question, what does it mean to crack open the boundary between mortal and oracular realms, and how can we connect with the oracular through divination? Can we connect to the personal oracular through nature, through the body? How can we best translate our intuitive knowing into empowering insights? How do we find truth in the oracular?
For our listener symbol portion of the show, we examine the synchronistic discovery of four leaf clovers in one of our listener's lives.
We loved this episode, and hope you do, too.

The ouroboros is one of our most mysterious and powerful symbols, denoting the simultaneity of life, subsequent endings and beginnings, death and rebirth, completion and totality, solar power and bravery, an encircling of the world... As an alchemical concept the ouroboros represented the circular nature of the alchemist's work, or what Jung interpreted as the integration of shadow, an evocation of man as "prima materia."
Join us in this episode where we immerse ourselves in the realm of the world-snake, and explore new ways to understand and work with this symbol, as a reminder of our totality.

When it comes to romantic love, the heart is the symbol that most immediately comes to mind. When we're passionate, we move from the heart, and when we're disappointed, our hearts can break. The heart is central, literally, to our functioning, and so in this episode, we explore different ways of understanding and holding the heart, letting it be messy, complex, and expansive.
Join us as we explore the heart's Aphrodisian qualities, it's kingly glare, it's connection to devotion and the spiritual, it's sulphuric and solar radiance. May this guide you into Valentine's Season with heart-deepening awareness :)

What does it mean to approach a threshold? Prevalent in myths, fairy tales, sagas, ancient hymns, thresholds represent a point of departure from the profane to the sacred. Thresholds demarcate the space between realms, and our passage through them is transformative. But how do we know when we’re at a “threshold moment”? And what do we do when we find ourselves navigating the difficulty of said passage?
Tune in to this episode, where we explore the thresholds in myth, dreams, astrology, and tarot, and offer perspective on what it means to find transformation through life’s unique threshold moments.

The lion! A symbol of sovereignty, regality, solar power, and bravery, associated with kings of all kinds. These are the primary associations we call up, when asked to contemplate the lion in all his golden glory, but upon a closer look, the lion holds more than meets the eye.
At the beginning of a new calendar year, there is as much potential for hope as there is exhaustion. We can connect with the symbol of the lion as a reminder of our innate courage, fortitude, and sovereignty. Join us as we explore the big cat's connection to kings and goddesses, to the Strength card in the tarot and the Leo constellation, green and red lions in alchemy, the lion's appearance in the myths of heroes like Hercules as well as the famous feminine apostle Thecla, to deepen our understanding of what this creature conjures in our imaginations. May we all step into our own brave, leonine selves as we being a new year.

We enter into the depths of December and are immersed in a maelstrom of commercialized holiday ~cheer~. This time of year can be exceptionally stressful, with its emphasis on the weight of our purchases. Looking back in pre-Christian history, the winter solstice was frequently celebrated as a returning of longer days, a re-birth of the “Sun King,” a celebration of hope in the dark and cold of the year.
Join us as we explore the importance of the winter solstice, contemplating its astrological meaning, specific winter festivals like Saturnalia and Yule, and the prevalence of themes of death and resurrection, whether we’re talking about the rebirth of the earth, the Sun, or Christ. We strive to call the feminine back into a time of year that tends to focus on the birth of the Christian king, contemplating stories of Ishtar and Innana, to re-enchant what otherwise may feel a chaotic time of year.
This episode features a contemplation of a listener's synchronistic experience with a wasp sting, Chiron in astrology, and Achilles in myth.

Angels are most famous as god's messengers, often depicted in flowing white robes, surrounded by choirs of harps, and bewinged. What superficial depictions of angels tends to miss is their terrifying power. To be a messenger of god can mean so many different things--angels can deliver god's decree, they can banish and protect, and they can avenge. Join us in this conversation where we explore the conflation of daemons and angels, the fall of the angel Lucifer, and many other manifestations of angel iconography in the collective.

We talk so much about “shadow” in our work as diviners, but what does the shadow really entail? And what is shadow work?! The shadow is an expression of what is yet unintegrated in our personality, that which we don’t see about ourselves, which we can strive to bring to awareness over the course of our life.
As we work towards individuation in our lifetime, we must go searching for the pieces of our shadow, but how do we accomplish this task? Tune into the latest episode of Soror Mystica, as we explore mythic expressions of the shadow (the underworld, scary beasts), Jungian explorations of the shadow, how to articulate the shadow in our relationships, what happens when we ignore or avoid the shadow, and much more.

The Wheel of Fortune is an ancient symbol, spun by the Roman goddess Fortuna, doling out gifts and twists of fate in equal measure. Many of us are most familiar with the Wheel of Fortune from the tarot (or the famed gameshow, though here at Soror Mystica, we’re more Jeopardy girls), as a card that holds the promise of change…
But the Wheel of Fortune brings with it an element of chance. Sometimes we’re at the top of the wheel, other times we’re headed towards the bottom of the tread. Joseph Campbell offers the beautiful wisdom that by finding a way to stay at the center, or the spoke of the wheel, we maintain a sense of centrality in our lives and experiences, and that is just what we explore, this episode.
Tune in anywhere you find your pods to follow this exploration of the wheel as a solar symbol spun by a lunar goddess, the wheel as a symbol of chance and fate, and how we can best locate our centers as the wheel spins on.
If you enjoy the show, we’d be delighted if you’d share it with fellow seekers, as well as rate/review the show on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, so that we can keep growing!
